Strange, but I agree how can you sexually assault a dead what used to be a person. To me trespassing and vandalism should have been the charges.

if they are dead, how can they give consent to such?

If they are *dead*, they are not human beings anymore -- just decaying pieces of organic matter.

You can't "sexually assault" a dead person no more than you can assault a desk or a door knob.

There's no legal designation for "respect".

I made a neutral statement - I didn't say what I thought about it ;)

There is, I believe, no legal definition of "respect".

true. but big brother and a pair of nephews willing to stomp the desecrator of their sister/cousin in the ground is awfully good reason to suddenly find respect :P

If the law doesn't exist - what is the judge supposed to do?

There's no respect or dignity in death. Funeral ceremonies and particularly the

disposal of the dead body in a grave are forms of denial designed to help grieving

people cope with the loss of their loved ones. As long as there's a grave or some

place you could visit, the person is not really gone. People speak of "grave

desecration", as if there was something "sacred" about the remains of a dead person.

Indeed. Some of the 9/11 relatives never received their relatives remains. In fact, weren't personal effects were used in lieu of a body?
