Techy help needed...

I'm a MAC user and have very little experience of PCs. Don't all shout at me at once. I just love MACs, used them for work for many years, and that's why I know very little about PCs.

On this crappy old PC I have a problem with IE. Don't all shout to use other browsers either, I need help with IE!

When I have a browser window open, and right clink on a link to open the link in a NEW window, it closes the window I am in to open the link. It has only just started doing this and, for obvious reasons, it's pretty annoying. Any lovely techy people out there know what things I could try to stop this?

Dunno, I've never seen that before.

Not to sound silly, but have you tried rebooting? A good reboot usually fixes Windows when it's acting up.

Did you "accidentally" install MySearch or one of those nasty search bars?

I haven't done a system reboot so I'll try it.

If there's a search bar installed, it certainly wasn't me, and someone will pay when I next see them! I will poke around to see if I can find one.

I can't wait to get home to my frigging MAC, believe me, boys

ad aware sucks. if you want a decent program and one that offers real time protection instead of one that just protects you when you manually start it, get webroot spysweeper.

Under Tools | Options | Advanced | Browsing... do you have "reuse windows for launching shortcuts" checked? If so, uncheck it and see if that helps.

Otherwise, my guess is spyware/adware/virus.
