I rang the NVC line today and got a message that our IV bill 'has been generated and will be sent in a few weeks'.

1. Confused - isn't being generated and being sent the same thing?

2. Is there a shortcut to paying the IV bill? I mean, do we havea to wait a few weeks for it to arrive before we pay it, or is there a way?

I have looked but am short of time today so didn't find an answer. Many thanks!

You know they simply hatch out small insects and force them to carry each individual paper down long obstacle course laden hallways where equally brainless creatures figure out how to stuff an envelope and apply postage. My musings aside, I found James' Shortcuts to work really well!

Generated does not mean it is sent right away. Usually, NVC sends forms 4-5 business days after it is generated. So within 7-10 days after it is generated, you should receive it, if it is a US address.

There is no shortcut for paying the IV Bill. So you have to wait for the IV bill ($380.00) to be received by mail and then send it.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Well, there is a way, but no one has ever tried it to risk almost $380 non refundable IV fee. IV bill has a random transaction numbers attached to the NVC case number. I would rather wait for few days than risking to loose $380 IV Fee.

In my case, I received the IVFee bill in mail 5 days after it was generated. NVC automated messages have been overstating the expected days , so yours might be hitting your door sometimes next week.

Good Luck,

YamSam,
