The BBC article was reporting on a 60 minutes interview with Mike Wallace -- a clip of which was on tv last night, Musharraf definitely said it to Mike Wallace-- I saw it with my own eyes.

Whether or not it is true I do not know -- my gut feeling is that Armitage said it. Whether or not the white house know or approved of it is another question. I would say no -- I think they are a little more canny than that.
