Right. And who should stop you from dumping toxic waste in your backyard? After all, it's YOUR backyard, right?

well, by that logic, California should be suing Californians for driving!

everyone's got some responsibility in it. I just don't get why the solution to everything always has to be suing.

Insta win $$ without having to work for it.

If there was higher tax for SUVs in California I would be all for it -- significantly higher tax.

CA legislators are dropping the ball here

they were selling large SUV's/Hummers like crazy when the fed gov still had that vehicle lower tax loop hole that was intended for large farm equipment.... many used it to get the guzzlers instead

I just heard a snippet on the radio on my way to work this morning so I may have some wrong info. But I thought it was the state's DA who was initaiting the lawsuit. He can do this as part of his job. No need for the legislature to get involved.

California prides itself in being a leader. It has created many laws that are now standard nationwide. I believe seatbelts is such an example. So go ahead and shake your head in disbelief. I'd rather try to change things for the better than just sit around pontificate 'personal responsibility'. Good for the DA!

Exactly! Where was the outrage by the free market capitalists who despise market intervention from the government?

Right. It's not the crack dealers...it's the crackheads. Personal responsability all the way. Companies only provide the products and services that are in demand and have no social or environmental responsability whatsoever.
