With the employer's letter, make sure that it mentions you have a permanent position along with its starting date and salary so that reinforces your position that you can support your spouse:-). Good luck.

I've put an email in with our human resources dept for that letter.

Now just waiting for the transcripts. I have my W-2s from 2005, so I'll submit those with the other documents.

Thanks everyone. *fingers crossed*

We too got the exact same thing.

The transcripts take about 10 days. You might want to include a clear, concise letter with the RFE explaining what you are returning and that the income amounts are sufficient, spell it out for them :)

We got same RFE, I've been so slow in turning it back in though. I've got all the info and am going to mail it in today, only thing is we don't have paystubs for my cosponsor. However, I don't see anywhere they are asked for so I'm not gonna worry, we have the employer letters, copies of birth certificates (we forgot that, oops), and tons of tax stuff (it makes sense to my cosponsor/father, not me, so I'm trusting him its right). After the RFE and having to do biometrics twice I'm not feeling confident in this process at all and waiting for a second RFE or third biometrics appointment! :P

We got the same RFE with you. So, we finally sent all of these to them;

1. photocopy of W-2.

2. Tax transcript from IRA (You can order by mail or phone $0 and will take about 10 to 15 days).

3. Employment letter again but up to recent date.

4. the most recent pay stup.

After I sent them my RFE package my case was transferred to CSC right away as soon as they got it. Hope I don't need to interview, though.

Good luck.

I know what a W2 is but I don't know what a tax transcript is. Does anyone have an image of it or could describe is so I can be doubly sure my father/cosponsor gave me it?

I obviously don't have my tax transcripts yet, but my understanding is that they provide an overview of the taxes paid in a given year. According to the IRS (phone message), the tax transcript is generally accepted as proof that you paid taxes in a given year. This is in contrast to copies of the tax return forms you filed with the IRS.

On a related note, after searching this site, since apparently copies can't be certified as accurate without the additional W-2, 1099s, some people provide USCIS with tax transcripts in lieu of copies. I guess either is acceptable to USCIS, given you submit the W-2s along with the copies.

If you go to the IRS.gov site, you can find more info. Transcripts are free, certified copies cost $39 each.

Thanks for your help. I'm just going to trust my father, if they want more info I have no doubt they'll send for it! Time to seal up the RFE....I hate this part, I get so nervous something is missing! :P

This is all sooo annoying... Something tells me that we'll get a freakin' RFE as well. We've included the most recent tax return and pay stubs for the past 6 months, but not the employer letter or W2's... And we also have a joint sponsor, who gave us W2's and the most recent tax return, but no pay stubs or employment letters, let alone all that for 2003 and 2004. And our joint sponsor lives in another state, so if we get an RFE for something from him, it's gonna slow down the process big time.

IMO, an early RFE would have been preferable to one AFTER the biometrics appointment.

I think those "new guidelines" that came out at the end of last month for the I-864's didn't help matters!

I ,and I'm sure many others, followed the simplified new rules sending in the W2, and 1040 for only 2005, only to find out that an RFE was heading our way, because we should have included more info like the OLD guidelines........proof of employment, pay stubs etc........

It's been very frustrating for many VJ'ers, and will continue to be, I imagine.... people have to try to remember to include as much info as possible, to avoid an RFE........ and even when they do they sometimes still get one.........

If it's any consolation, after I sent my RFE back my case has recently been transferref to CSC!! similar to Pattra, I also hope I don't get an interview!!

I hope we're so lucky as to get transferred to CSC. I've not been as dilligent in keeping up paperwork this time so I don't have copies of everything and I would not be happy trying to gather up loads of evidence to support our marriage, I'm just way too busy between work and my last year of college! I mailed off the RFE today with overnight shipping...lets hope all goes well.
