I stayed at the Sofitel and the Remington when I was there last year. The Sofitel was great. Made my fiance and I feel like we were honored guests. The Remington was less expensive but also less impressive.

We (fiancee, one of her sons, myself) stayed 3 nights at the Cherry Blossoms Hotel in late December.

The bed bugs were very hungry.

Fiancee & I were upstairs on the bed that is permanently part of the room.  She complained about being bitten, I noticed bites on my arm the next day.

Her son was downstairs on a folding bed rolled brought into the room.  He also complained of bed bug bites.

We would never stay there again.

For my medical, I stayed at Hotel Soriente, I paid 1600php. It's just one minute walk away from SLEC.

For my interview, I stayed at M Hotel. It's two minutes away from US embassy. I got deluxe room for only 877 pesos 😀.

Chinook and I recently stayed at the Belmont at Resorts World.  It's cozy, it's clean, it's near NAIA, their shuttle is free, and a good breakfast is included.

Not having good luck with the hotels in this area.  Batting 1.000 so far in Cebu (3 hotels) but 0.000 in Manila (2 hotels).

We stayed at the Lotus Garden (2 rooms 3/31 - 4/6).  The hotel was ok overall, but their minibar accounting is very dishonest.

The night before I left (morning of 4/5) I paid the minibar bill for both rooms.  The insisted on doing their own inspection of the minibars, and I paid the full abount that they asked for.  Although I got them to write both room numbers on the reciept, they apparently didn't credit any of it to the other room.

They never restocked either minibar.

On the morning when my fiance and her kids left (4/6), they reinspected her not-restocked minibar and demanded P1170 that I had already paid.  I had left her with my receipt showing that the minibar tabl had been paid for both rooms, but they refused to honor that.  They held her hostage for an hour & twenty minutes, at which point she paid the duplicate charge so as not to miss their plane.

Also had some trouble getting them to accept AMEX, I'm guessing because due to their dishonest practices, they've had more than a few AMEX charges successfully contested.

I have emailed the hotel twice about this, with no response whatsoever from them.

My finance & her kids will be back in June to wrap things up at St. Lukes and the embassy, but she will not stay in this hotel again.  It would have been another six-night stay for them if they had not held her hostage and extorted the extra P1170 from her.  I've already paid $702.36 (P9400) to place them elsewhere.

We stayed at Casa Bocobo. I think Bocobo is the best for the price you pay. Also Hotel soriente isnt bad either. Bocobo is 2300 for cheapest room. Soriente is at least 1900. They both have great wifi as well and Bocobo has great free breakfast while soriente has no breakfast or a restaurant.

Theyre both great choices since you can walk to st lukes or us embassy from either hotel in a couple min.

Actually scratxh that do not stay in hotel soriente i just remembered they charged me to use the phone in their rooms without warning me in advance.  Go with Casa Bocobo

I didn't notice Hotel H2O mentioned.  I stay there every visit.  Location is great.  Great restaurants and you have to experience the sunset from the White Moon Bar right on Manila Bay...

It is adjacent to the Manila Ocean Park so it is also a great place to meet all the relatives!

PDOS (Pre-Departure Registration and Orientation Seminar) is for ages 20-59.  Peer Counseling is for 13-19 years of age.

I was just there Sept/Oct. I had to go to the Embassy while I was there so I booked 3 rooms at the Best Western Hotel La Corona (our driver and family that came to greet me at the airport were with us) . I picked it because of how close it is to the embassy and the price wasn't too bad. I was happy with the Hotel. The rooms were nice and clean. They upgraded me to a suite which was nice. We had our free breakfast in the morning and it was good. I did have to leave a cash deposit of 1500 php/room or a credit card when I checked in. I chose to use cash. When I checked out I received the full refund. I will probably stay there again on my next trip.

I stayed at the Tambayan Capsule Hostel during my interview at the embassy. It was in front of Robinson's Manila and a 10-15 minute walk to the Embassy so I didn;t have to worry about bringing my cellphone.

If you're really on a budget, capsules can go as low as Php550 with breakfast. My room was Php1,200 for 1 night. Definitely a great deal.

I have stayed at La Corona about 9 times , it is the only hotel I will stay in while in Manila.. They have always treated us nice and fair and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a good one.

I knew that the US Embassy was along Roxas Boulevard and most hotels I see in that area were very expensive, so I  thought:

"Sure. I'll walk 5 minutes further instead of just crossing the street if it will save Php5,000."

I stayed at Tambayan Capsule Hostel for my interview but here are 16 hotels including their cheapest rates for a 1-night stay for 2 people that could fit your budget which I found.

Hope this helps you prepare for that big day :)

Anyone can generate a list of hotels.  There are two in your list that I will NEVER set foot in again.

What's more important are people's feedback regarding the hotels, both here and in the major travel sites, e.g. Travelocity, Priceline, Trip Advisor.

Our experiences:

  • Cherry Blossoms:  Bedbug City -- If you want to be on the menu, this is your hotel!
  • Lotus Garden:  Dishonest minibar accounting; they held my fiance hostage for a minibar tab that I had already paid and for which she had the receipt.  Only time I have ever contested (and successfully! :D) an expense on my AMEX (which they were reluctant to take, wonder why?)

For their final visit, I booked them at Best Western La Corona  @ $58 per night, feedback from my fiancee & kids was 100% positive.  You get what you pay for.  :)
