Also, the people selling stuff outside the SLEC are always like that to anyone. Maybe because it is your first time in Manila that's why you are overwhelmed by all of these people coming up to you, selling caps, belts, watches, ID photo services, photocopying services and what not. They offer a lot of different things and services, even for us non-Americans like you. That's just what they do, this is how these people make a living in Manila. If you feel that you were in danger, why not stay in your hotel, since you said in your other posts that it is near almost everything? I assume it is near SLEC.

Darren...I emailed St. Lukes to find out whether your fiancée would be allowed to accompany you to your face-to-face meeting with them. My thinking is that you would not want to squander your valuable time with your fiancée by going to the meeting without her.

I also emailed the mayor of Manila to demand that he round up and remove all street vendors from Manila while you are there. I'm not sure where he will put them all...do you have any ideas?

This is funny. You said that you are unaware that you are not allowed to get inside the SLEC building where in fact you posted the letter you got from SLEC weeks ago and there are people (including myself) who said that you can't enter inside the building due to ample space. How is it you thought you were going in? I know of at least one time you posted about the medical at SLEC and how you planned to go in and I remember commenting that you should not expect to go in because its too crowded usually for anyone except the applicants, and so did so many others who have been through the experience or who have read the posts indicating that you will not be going in. Or am I thinking of some other poster?

Guess I'm confused as to why you thought you would get in after you were told by so many here on VJ long before and then get so upset when you couldn't get in?

There are exceptions for letting the US citizen in, my husband was allowed to come with me cause I'm 5 months preggo, with pregnancy complications and would need constant assistance from my husband and also, we came late in the afternoon around 2pm, the building was almost empty, everyone else is downstairs by the releasing section. There was also another US citizen that was allowed to accompany the wife because they brought their 9 month old daughter with them during the medical. The second day of the medical, I did not make my husband come with me anymore, since I will be going in the morning and there will be a lot of people inside that small building.

he said that she already passed the medical and YOU as an American CAN accompany your fiancee through the process. However, no other Filipino but the applicant can go in.

We all know the result of the medical is not disclosed until the second day, in their case is today, Tuesday.

He's probably (or his fiance) confusing the immunization interview as passing the exam. Did she get an actual immunization? or just an interview?

I suggest you just get over it and focus your energy on positive things. The Philippines has many wonderful aspects but sometimes, in the Phils ( as in many countries) there are rules, regulations and bureaucracies that defy logic and make life more challenging than it has to be. Your points are totally valid, but you may be wasting your time trying to re-invent the wheel. Plus St Lukes has no reason to want to provide better service or to listen to you at all; They have a complete monopoly on this situation.

Just be happy she didnt have to do a sputum test, go get your interview and live happily ever-after.
