Packet 3 requests form 1040 and W-2

I know that TAX TRANCRIPTS are better (and I will take them to my interview), but still since my embassy specifically requests for Form 1040 I want to take it too, to not have any problems with the consul...

My fiance got his TAX TRANCRIPTS in one week and they were for free, but i was reading that getting a copy of your TAX RETURN costs $57 and In some cases, it can take up to 2 months for the IRS to process your request.

The money is not an issue but it will be an issue to wait for too long to get a copy of TAX RETURN, its been already over 1 month since we got our NOA2..

Please anyone who has been in the same situation could tell how long does it take to get a copy of your tax return from the IRS?

:help:

Do you not have a copy of you tax return? Besides I think the transcript is the better document to have as any tom, #######, and harry can print out a tax return, sign it and say this is what I filed as long as it matches the other supproting documention. The transcript is what the IRS has on record of what was filed and they accepted. You need EITHER the 1040 form with all supporting documents OR the transcripts. Yes, a copy of the tax return itself takes longer to receive. I would stick with just the transcripts as the or official government documents whreas the form 1040 is not. Plus the transcript has all the same information the 1040 does so why would you need both?

Good luck.

Dave

P.S. if you happen to have an IRS center near you you can go to it and request a copy of your form 1040 and they may give it to you right then and there. I do not know this for sure, but it would be worth a try.

Once you have your tax transcripts.....U dont need 1040 or w2. Cos your tax transcript covers it all.
