Hello, I have been reading the guide that explains how to apply for AOS and I have a doubt. That guide says that "If you are a K-1, K-2, K-3 or K-4 visa holder the I-693 instructions state that you are not required to have another medical examination as long as your Form I-485 is filed within one year of your overseas medical examination." I had my medical in May and I will be filing for AOS in July. However, my question is how do I prove when I had my medical exam? Also, how do I prove that my medical examination was perfect and that my vaccination records are complete? When I entered the states, they kept my medical at the port of entry together with all the other papers that the embassy had put in the sealed envelope.I have read on some forums that some people were given a sheet with their vaccination records but nothing was given to me.As I said, they kept everything at the port of entry.Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Your medical report will be forwarded from POE to USCIS, that's how they will know your medical was completed within one year.

You have to go to a Civil surgeon to have your vaccination records transcribed to I-693. Bring whatever proof of your vaccinations you have. If you don't have any, a doctor will do a titer test or repeat all required vaccinations.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014

Thanks a lot for your fast reply!I still don't understand why I need to see a civil surgeon if my medical is gonna be forwarded to USCIS. The doctor attached a sheet with all the information regarding my vaccines to the medical. Is it really necessary to have my vaccination records transcribed to that form you mentioned?

Even though you don't need to do exam again, you still need to submit I-693 with your I-485.

Please read instructions for I-693.

It tells you what parts of the forms are mandatory even without medical exam.

Huh, I didn't send any part of the I-693 with my husband's AOS package. We got no RFE(s) so I guess there was no problem sending it that way. No where on the instructions for I-693 do I see where it says you have to fill out part of the I-693 if you are a K-1 who took your medical within the last year, except this, "If the vaccination records (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included part of the original, overseas medical, examination report, you will have to have the vaccination report completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you are required to submit Part 1, Information About You, Part 2, the vaccination chart and Part 5, the Civil Surgeon's Certification, of Form I-693."

So... It sounds to me that if the vaccination records were properly completed and included in the original overseas medical, you wouldn't have to fill out any part of the I-693. I could be wrong, but if I was, why did my husband not get a RFE? He already had his biometrics taken, and we even had an AOS interview letter. (Although we had to reschedule, so we are waiting for our new interview letter) But my point was that we got that far with no RFE, so I'm sure what we did was fine. We did send with the AOS package, was a vaccination report that my husband received when he has his medical. We assume the sealed package he gave at the POE was sent to USCIS since that is what I read here on VJ.

Well, I think I will need to to see the civil surgeon because unlike your husband, nobody gave me a vaccination report when I had my medical.I saw the doctor completing the report, but he attached that sheet to the rest of the medical and the whole thing was kept at the POE.

Wrong. It tells you what parts are needed IF you vaccinations are not up the date.

If your vaccinations are up to date and your medical isn't more than 12 months old then you don't need to send ANYTHING. Some people suggest attaching the DS-3025 as a reminder to USCIS that you did the overseas medical but again, it isn't REQUIRED.

Thanks a lot for your fast reply!I still don't understand why I need to see a civil surgeon if my medical is gonna be forwarded to USCIS. No it's not necessary... unless your shots aren't complete. Then it is.

Hey BirdyGirl85, I am waiting for my interview at this moment. All through the course of my journey, I was never asked for I-693 though I had 3 diffrent RFEs but I was asked to bring the I-693 to the interview if not submitted. Do u have this same request in your interview letter? Thank you.

Yes, my husband's interview letter said to bring a completed medical examination (Form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted). We feel we don't need to bring anything new for the medical to the interview... We could be wrong I guess, but I don't see why we need to have a I-693 filled out for the interview if we didn't need it for the AOS package.

You are correct. If they wanted the I-693 they would have RFE'd you for it.

In my case, I was filed my AOS last March then my Vaccination record was taken by the Immigration officer when I entered in the US. Unluckily I dont have copy of my vaccination so what I'm doing is asked to the USCIS IO what should I do my vaccination was taken and I dont have copy. The IO of USCIS said that make a letter and address to the DHS to justify that my vaccination record was in their file and thanks God's my AOS is ok and waiting for my interview a couple of days. Good luck for me.

I think you just check your vaccination records is complete no need another vaccination or if not complete thats the time your going to the accredited uscis doctor.
