Ive heard about that many times, mostly from friends who's visas are still in process.. worrying that IF that government shutdown will happen... does USCIS and NVC will be affected??????? Gosh hope not cause its not that really easy waiting too long to be approved, then this issue will be an addition? I always do hope and pray this will not going to happen! and hope VERMONT will hurry up those visas who are still in process for almost 7 months now. if only they knew how does it feel freaking out, worrying, bothering time to time thinking about it. More power to all of us here!

All existing petitions and applications will be canceled and you will have to start over.

No, not really.

While it would indeed be frustrating if your visa process is delayed even more in an already-slow situation, think not of your slight concern over having to wait an additional week or two to be reunited, and think instead what it means for government employees to not be paid. Think of the economic impact months from now if THOUSANDS of employees are unable to pay their bills...

Limitations would not just affect the states. Aaron Tarver, a spokesman at the U.S. Embassy in Seoul, South Korea, said U.S. citizens will still have consular services if needed, but passports would be limited to emergencies. In the Philippines, the U.S. Embassy in Manila would only provide limited and emergency services if a shutdown happened, spokeswoman Rebecca Thompson said.
