Most shutdowns lasted fewer than three days. One of the most famous, the standoff between President Bill Clinton and House Speaker Newt Gingrich over balancing the federal budget – lasted 21 days, from Dec. 16, 1995, to Jan. 6, 1996.

I hope the shutdown, if its going to happen anytime soon... wont let be as any longer as the previous shutdowns :(

Asked my lawyer, he wrote "If there is a shutdown, people are saying it will only be for a few days -- possibly just the weekend. Visa processing at embassies will be impacted and non-essential employees throughout the government will not be allowed to work."

Welcome to America beneficiaries! I'm not sure when you will ever be "beneficiated" (hehe) but welcome all the same! After waiting way too long for the USCIS to do their job, the government is now springing this on us. I haven't seen my fiance since November and now it looks like unless I move down there (Brazil) it could be another 3-5 months to an interview. When will the madness end?! I can just hear the excuses of a backlog now...ai ai ai! :wow:

09/21/10 - I-129F Sent!

09/23/10 - I-129F Received in Dallas, TX

09/28/10 - Text & E-mail NOA1 (It was at 12:44AM, weird) Notification that our case was transferred to VSC.

09/29/10 - Check cashed

09/30/10 - NOA-1 Hard Copy dated Sep. 27, 2010

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"

03/31/11 - NOA-2!

04/05/11 - Received NOA-2 hard copy.

04/07/11 - NVC Received

04/12/11 - Case left NVC via DHL

04/14/11 - Consulate Received Hard Copy of Case

Are you talking about Bush Sr or W? GW Bush never had a shutdown. Clinton had 2 shutdowns (i'm not blaming Clinton for them i'm just stating the facts, IMHO he was a better president than GWbush and Obama....which doesn't say much).

<sarcsam>really? i thought Obama started the deficit</sarcasm>

I never claimed Obama invented the deficit (and i never claimed to sing praises to Bush) But Obama sure has hit some new records.

I agree Clinton about Clinton.. I wanted Hilary..........

If Clinton was in office we wouldn't be waiting 8-10 months for our spouses.

Partisan politics started around Clinton and Monica Lewinsky..I believe

Thxs for the replay I just googled the thing and they r saying that it would ttake only few days or a weekend so I don't think that it would effect the processing time for visas. Thank God!!!

Really? I always thought partisan politics in the US started with Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. However, I could be wrong about that.
