They are talking about government shut-down... I have an interview on April 22nd. Will interviews/visa issuance be affected by such shut-down?

Depends on...

1. If it happens

2. How long it lasts.

3. Yes it COULD affect your interview.

I thought uscis is funded through applications fee's how can they shut it down?? this is shear stupidity if they do.

They are only funded by fees when they want to increase fees. They WILL be closed if the government is shut down. People we know that work at VSC have been told not to report to work on Monday if the government shuts down Friday. They can use their accumulated vacation time or take the time off without pay.

My thoughts exactly. If they expect the petitioners and beneficiaries to pay for the process, then they shouldn't have to shut down because the government stops sending them money. The services should be already bought and paid for.

USCIS is not funded entirely by fees.

This is a fantasy such as the fantasy that you actually have money in a SS account.

If the government shutdown does occur, that would be an excellent time to add "#K1Vermonters #GovernmentShutdown" to all of your tweets. Believe you me it's going to trend like wildfire on Twitter.

just sayin

Yeah! It's very important to alert the public to a very small fraction of the population's inconvenience! Much more relevant that shutting down national parks in nice weather or amazing things to see like the Smithsonian. And screw the CA K1ers - obviously they aren't inconvenienced enough.

Sorry - I had to have a lil fun with your post - all these threads are cracking me up :P

This is what the fear mongers want.. So they close for a few days big whoop .. If we can't or they can't handle it

We have bigger issues.. If we continue to allow this entitlement mentality to go on in this country.. We will be moving out then

3 per day or 3 additional beyond the ... let's see ... looks like 4 already in p&r

My wife is all set. Her Visa was delivered to her home on Tuesday of this week. Good thing because I had already booked her flight to the USA for next week.

Each agency will have their own shut down plans to be approved by the Obama administration. Visas and passports will not be issued during a government shutdown. Since bureaucrats do not play "catch-up", the process will be delayed the number of days the government is shut-down. Since it is most likely this particular shutdown will occur over a weekend, there will be no net effect.

I asked the IO at my AOS interview if USCIS would be affected by a government shutdown, and her answer was "no, USCIS is petition-funded". Hope this helps.

You are so clueless. Try a dictionary and figure out what the word ILLEGAL means.

Take your slandering trash to the political forum where I am sure some mindless drone will latch onto every ignorant, false comment you have made.

Remember folks, being against ILLEGALS means you are anti-immigration, so I must be anti-immigration yet I am marrying an immigrant....oh the irony!

Pretty much. Remember they (democrats) had majority in the House and Senate and have the White House when the FY 2011 budget was made (2010) yet they were unable to pass it, so people blaming the GOP really are clueless. They focused more on ammnesty for illegals than the budget...shows you where their priorities were.

Talk about being a hypocrite.
