Request for expedition was denied. What else can I do?

I called USCIS today to request that our case be expedited, I just received an email saying it was denied after "careful consideration". 5 hours is consedered careful consideration. We have more than valid reasons for requesting that our case be expedited. Are there any other avenues I can take? Should I call them back? Speak to someone hire up maybe? Any help is appreciated.

A phonecall is rarely enough, and financial hardship is very difficult to get an expedite on (I've only ever seen one approved, and that was for a spousal visa). If you want to try again, send in information/ documentation on the financial hardship.

I thought you were going for a Work Visa?

I am sure he will be subject to AP/AR, there is no expedite for that.

Not clear on AP/AR. What is that? As far as the work visa, the person he was going to work for flaked on us :(

There is more that went into my request to expedite that I would rather not discuss here, but the woman I spoke to on the phone today with USCIS said she was going to list it under financial hardship.

LIST OF 26

All non-immigrant visa applicants who are citizens or nationals of the listed 26 countries are subject to additional security requirements in every area of the visa application process. The listed countries are: Afghanistan; Algeria; Bahrain; Djibouti; Egypt; Eritrea; Indonesia; Iran; Iraq; Jordan; Kuwait; Lebanon; Libya; Malaysia; Morocco; Oman; Pakistan; Qatar; Saudi Arabia; Somalia; Sudan; Syria; Tunisia; Turkey; United Arab Emirates; and Yemen. The additional security clearance can take 20 days or longer to process. Please keep in mind that the State Department can require this security clearance for any visa applicant.

*based on AP forum, it looks like they do these checks for immigrant applicants as well.

Thank you for the info. I didn't realize that. Will this 20 days show up during the petitioning stage, at NVC, the Consulate? Will we be asked to provide information at that time? Anything we can do to prepare for it now to make it go by faster?

The 20 days was in conjunction with non immigrant visa's.

AP starts with an otherwise issuable visa.

Nothing you can do but wait.

One thing to remember is that they are mostly concerned with insurmountable hardship to the US citizen. This is what you have to prove. They are not interested in any hardships the intending immigrant is experiencing.

in reality security checks for men from middle east who have served in the national guard or army ( even the mandatory 2 years ) can go anywhere from 2 months to years.
