Dear VJ members,Please help. We received a visa interview date on March 21, 2011 from NVC. Last Feb.23, 2011 my daughter and I went to Saint Lukes for medical check-up. My x-ray check-up was clear but my daughter was subject for sputum test for 3 consecutive days and another 2 months for the " culture " process. Although, her previous x-ray check-up from the other hospital two weeks ago was clear. How can we reschedule our interview appointment? Who will be the one who can give us a new appointment date? The St. Lukes Hospital or we are the one who will make a contact the U.S. Embassy for re-scheduling of our interview appointment?

After the 8 week wait and the sputum test is clear and you return with your daughter to do medical and pass medical, St Lukes will reschedule your appointment.

Any x-rays that is not clear in st. lukes result is subjected to sputum test for 3 days, it doesnt matter if its clear from the another hospital or clinic (slec has their own rules guided by US embassy). after 3 days, kahit po negative or positive result ang sputum STILL it will undergo another 2 months for culture test, which is the most important then, if Negative..good news u will have another interview date scheduled by them, if Positive your daughter will undergo treatment for 6 months in slec. About sa re scheduling ng appointment/ interview St. lukes na po bahala don.. wish u goodluck!

Don't worry too much about the sputum test and the culture because almost all of them turn out negative for TB.

Just like the previous posters said, St. Lukes will reschedule the interview after the eight-week culture.

Good luck!!! :)

The St. Luke's will going to re schedule you interview if necessary. You don't have to re schedule it by yourself. As long as you place your interview date. Just pray that sputum will be negative. They also said they found something in my chest xray but was negative in sputum. As long as your child doesn't have cough and afternoon fever, there's nothing to worry about...

Just to add my situation that St. Lukes did extend our interview because by the time the medical results become available our original interview date would have already past, and SLEC will notify the Embassy that's there is a delay due to the medical, but I still had to re-schedule the date online after we got the medical results and showed negative.

St. Lukes did not issue us a new interview date.

The Center for Disease Control sets the guidelines for communicable disease such as PTB. St. Lukes must comply to these guidelines.

Hmmm...interesting. This is the first time I've heard of someone rescheduling the interview themselves rather than St. Lukes doing it. Was there anything unusual about your case besides the culture?

Thanks for the info, maximus.

Nothing unusual beside the medical but after my fiancee was cleared the medical we expected that SLEC will give a new appointment date but she was told by the staff at SLEC that we need to re-schedule the interview appointment and NOT them.

I dont know the reason or if this is standard procedure. We just did what they said and re-scheduled using the website. We tried calling several times but wasn't able to get thru to a live person, perhaps cuz they were moving to a new building is what I read on the forum.

is it true that it would take 2 months before the "culture" result of the sputum test is released? if so, did SLEC really scheduled the interview for you?

thanks!

Yes, to both...

The individual can reschedule themselves or have St. Lukes do it after the two months. We got our results the day prior to the two months date and rescheduled ourselves. Don't know if it helped or saved any time but it sure did feel good to make ANY progress after two months in dry dock!!!

A little late with reply....

On March 17th

My fiancee, Cynthia, had the same issue, smear was negative, but x-ray, they "think" they see something. So had to delay 8 weeks...

SLEC cancelled our initial interview scheduled for March 28th. I think around the 6th week or so...she went ahead and scheduled another interview for June 1  on her own :D

Had her interview today...and was granted Visa

My mom had to undergo sputum test too and was told to call them July 29. And I don't know if I should call the Manila Embassy to re-schedule it or St. Lukes will??? I am getting two answers and I don't know what to do. Can I call now and re-schedule it since the clearance will be issued on a given date? And please tell me the website where I need to go to do the re-scheduling. I cant afford calling them and waiting to be answered for a long time. Thank you so much......:no::D
