How to "add friends" on VJ

Hello,

It seems that other people get to see two symbols under other members avatars, being an enveloppe to pm someone and a "little man icon" to add someone as a friend. I only get to see the enveloppe, would like though to also be able to add friends. Could any of the moderators or maybe Captain Ewok help me with this? Thank you in advance for your help!

There is a button under every member's profile name (to the left of the post). It looks like a person with a green + sign under it. Click it, and you have added a friend. They will get a notice that you added them (or have requested it - depending), and can do the same.

Brad, the OP said she can only see the envelope icon and not the 'little man' icon that allows her to add a friend. I wonder why her add a friend button is missing ?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I think it is the same issue as the "loading" message when you click the PM button. If you click more than once, you get the red minus sign and have added (or the PM pop up). I had the same problem.

Hello Anna,

After having mentioned it here, the icon appeared all of a sudden a few minutes later.

So I guess an administrator did change something in my settings...

Good luck to you!

Actually, your situations are normal.

When new members sign on to Visa Journey, there are a number of 'restrictions' placed upon their accounts until they make their first post in the forums. One of these is a limitation on the number of PMs they can make and another is the inability to add or see friends on an account. Once you post, those abilities are activated and you will be able to add and see your friends, as well as send PMs. It is set up this way as a means to help force spammers who are trying to act 'below the radar' out in the public where we can deal with them more effectively. Hope that explains things :) - if you haven't made a public post yet, do so, and you will get full membership benefits

Welcome to Visa Journey :) . You should be able to add friends now. The above was your first post, and until you make your first post in a forum you are not able to add friends or do some of the other 'full membership' actions.
