Thank you everyone! :)

P.S. If you don't mind me asking, how did you upload and share your photos on VJ? Did you use photobucket or something else?

Yes, I've got the photos hosted elsewhere and then just linked to them.

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing your citizenship experience. My husand arrived in Atlanta on May 17, 2007; he received his 10 year green card in August 2009. Can he apply for citizenship now (3 months prior) or does he have to wait until May?

Congratulations!! Thanks for sharing your citizenship experience. My husand arrived in Atlanta on May 17, 2007; he received his 10 year green card in August 2009. Can he apply for citizenship now (3 months prior) or does he have to wait until May?

He can apply 90 days prior to the third anniversary of receiving his first green card as long as you have already been married for 3 full years on the day he submits the application, and he meets all of the residency requirements (hasn't left the US for more than 6 months at a time, etc.). The only one that you are allowed to be early on is the third anniversary of getting the green card. Count back 90 days from the day his green card was issued - it isn't exactly 3 months since months vary in length - that will give you the date he is first allowed to apply. If you haven't been married 3 years by that date, then the earliest day he can apply will be when you have been married 3 years.

Got my U.S. passport in the mail today! I thought this would "seal the deal" for me, but it still feels surreal! Maybe it'll feel real when I get to use it??

Congratulations, Steffi!

As a dual citizen you now got the best of both worlds!

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Cool! I have the same feeling (when I get naturalized). I even joke with my wife a lot and tell her to go to Detroit, cross the bridge into Canada, make a U turn and enter back into the States :innocent:

I just want to be able to do that.....
