This post is old but I wanted to share with you what I am doing while waiting for my EAD. I am a full time volunteer at the Guardian Ad Litem program. We represent in court children who have been abused, neglected and abused. As I want to earn a degree in human services, I decided to get some experience first. You should definitely volunteer somewhere. They are always looking for new people and you will be busy.

Thats amazing! I went on a month long work trip with my mister as I couldn't work at the time, and the trip was just after I arrived in the us; I didn't really know too many people here at the time- so what else was I going to do? lol. After that was the holidays, so that kept me busy... Now I'm kinda struggling to find things to keep me busy, but volunteering is an amazing idea- I'll have to see if there is anything like that in the Seattle area.

You should definitely look for an opportunity to volunteer ! You will meet new people get new skills and experience here too !!! That will be easier for your future employer to check your references anyway.
