In most cases it takes 5-6 months just to get the 1-130 approved..add another 4-5 to get the visa completed...from 1-130 initial application to visa in hand for us was 11 months..give or take mistakes made, in our case NVC made 3..so I don't know where you get the 5 month thing.

Check out AbbynSheryl's timeline (they replied in this thread).

We were:

4 months to NOA2 (I-130 Approval)

7 weeks at NVC (1 mistake caused 2 wk delay)

5 weeks from Case Complete to Interview

1 week from Interview to POE

I-130 approvals seem to have gotten quicker since 2nd quarter of 2009 and if you "do it right" you can get through NVC in 1 month!

Thanks bob 4 anna,

Because I just sent in my IV packet on Monday and should expect case complete before end of month and based on your timeline the interview should be smack dab in the middle of march, as I anticipated.

From what we were seeing a few months ago expect 2 calender weeks from sending documents to them being "Accepted" (as in not just received in the mail room but also logged into your case, scanned and good to go). If your case completes before the second full week of Feb then you should receive your interview date in an e-mail sometime during that second (full) week of Feb for March @ USEM.

Good Luck...
