I wanna buy a plane ticket for my husband from ghana to usa my question is this..i wanna buy it in cash at airport here directly from the airline(DELTA) so they dont have to worry about credit card and have it issued as a e ticket,so i can email it do u think he will have proclem at the airport getting his bording pass..HAS ANYONE EVER DONE THIS...

Hello...I was wondering...you husband will be able to come to the US while waiting for an interview? I was looking at your timeline and I did not see that the case was completed at NVC yet. I only ask because I was informed that my husband cannot come here until his visa is completed, not even for a visit. Now if you have found somthing different please let me know...I am all ears.

Now to answer your queston if you purchase a ticket for your husband he should have no problem with the e-ticket at the airport. He still has to go to the counter and they will go throught the check in process. When I was comig back I just had to have my reservation number and my name in the "ticketing system".

Just be sure that when you are purchasing the ticket that you let the agent know that you are purchasing it on his behalf (sometimes it can be said but not understood). A super safe way is to call the airline. I know KLM has not issue with this...but you may call Delta to ask just to be sure. I learned that each airline has there own uniques way of handling international travel.

He did and had no problems.

What did you mean by "not worry about credit cards"? They won't demand the credit card when he checks in. His name or confirmation number will be enough.

Who told you this? I'm only asking because to be safe I've postponed filing until my husband arrives on an extended visit, but due to numerous delays, we're thinking of filing now, before he arrives. I know there is a lot of debate about this, but there is no legal reason why the beneficiary cannot visit on a tourist visa during the immigration process. The problem is that it is at the discretion of the border officer, and the fear is that he/she will deny entry.

Have you been specifically told this, and by whom? Your answer will help me decide what to do. Thanks.

I was told this by NVC directly by 4 different operators (Nov 2009). I simply asked them that while my husband is waiting for his interview can he apply for a visitors visa just to come here and be with me during the holidays...and I was told no that he could not. I called again and was told that if he did, chances are it would be denied because he originally applied to be here for good and he therefore would not be able to successfully show or prove strong enough ties that will justify him returning back to his country. This was why I asked the question. This would make waiting easier if he can be here... So if anyone one knows differen please let me know.

Okay. I see. Thanks. My husband already has his tourist visa, but I'm still not sure if he would be allowed entry. I would imagine that a flag would come up with his name at the border indicating that he was the beneficiary of a petition and some people feel the officer might not let a person in that situation in.

When my husband applied for his latest visa, I wrote a letter explaining that we were about to file a petition and that we understood the laws and would not do anything to jeopardize his immigrant visa. I made sure to explain that we knew he was not eligible for a change of status, either. I don't know if it made any difference, my husband has property and businesses in his country, but he had no problem getting his visa. I don't know if such a letter would help in your case.
