If you want to be sure your question is properly answered, you must:

  1. Tell us where you plan on interviewing
  2. Ask a more specific and detailed question.

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

The number of people that were in line before your wife will be a factor in the length of time she's at the embassy.

I hope all goes well.

i mean like the day of the interview...how long are you usually in the embassy for

We were "in there" for 1-1/2 hours. It took maybe 5 minutes to turn in all documents. There was no "interview" per se. No questions asked. They just called us up to the interview window and gave back our original documents and photos and said the visa was approved.

The rest of the time was waiting. Pretty nice room, propoganda travelouges playing on the TV monitor, other fiancees and USCs to talk to. Not a bad morning all in all.

3 hours or so does not sound unusual at all. Not sure which embassy you are referring to, but I had to wait outside the Bangkok embassy for just over 2 hours when my wife had her interview. 1 hour 55 minutes of waiting, 5 minutes of interviewing.

The interview itself does not take too much time. The whole process is another matter entirely. That and how many people are ahead of you will determine the amount of time that you or your fiance/fiancee will be. In Cory's case her appointment was for 1 pm. The whole process for her took close to 3 hours.

PEACE..............

When you love someone from the bottom of your heart; so much that you are willing to give your life for your loved one, time and distance takes a backseat. Only love prevails. And with love in you hearts you can overcome anything.

"how long is the interview" doesn't have a definite answer because...

it's not really just an interview but a whole process that begins with a lot of waiting in line, passing of documents, pre-interview questions from pre-creeners

it depends on the country you're in because interview processes sometimes vary

it depends on the volume of applicants on your interview schedule

if your application was complete, questions are usually formality so interview takes 5-10mins

if you have docs that need verification by the CO, more questions are asked so interview takes 10-30 minutes

if you get approved, you still have to process payment for visa delivery

so an visa applicant will usually take at least half a day from start to finish.

in the phils, since it's embassy policy that electronics can't be brought inside, you can't communicate till your fiancee's out of the building and done with the whole process

Three hours of waiting and a two minute interview in Guz. Try reading the embassy reviews for the embassy you are at.
