Hello everyone.

Thank you all, for the quick replies to my last question, regarding Chinese Birth Certificates. We have that all taken care of.

My next uncertainty is with the Form I-134, Item 7: "I have stocks and bonds with the following market value..."

Do IRA's and 401k investments qualify as sources for this item? I know that Retirement Funds are made up from stocks and bonds, but they are a different kind of instrument.

Logic tells me that the answer is yes but, I defer to the Forum Experts.

They qualify if they are invested in stocks and bonds instead of interest bearing investments but if your income alone is sufficient, you may simply leave blank all asset related questions.

Here's my opinion -

have an accountant prepare a sheet that shows the liquidation or 'cash out' value of all of these types of accounts -

they were primarily for retirement, right? Think of them , now, instead, as 'cash out today', or 'liquidate today'.

so if you cashed out today, whats the value of each account, after 1) fees 2) penalties 3) tax surcharge/liability.

Then, include the accountants sheet in the I-864 as a supplement, and show the values in the I-864.

But - that's just my opinion.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thanks for the advice, guys.

My income is more than enough, so I think that I'll skip the I-134 investment question, and simply have my banks prepare account statements.

I appreciate the input!
