So, I have my Oath 7/27/09 @ 10:00 AM.

I plan to right after the oath go to the post office and apply for a passport by mail with the 75.00 Fee. (Non-Expedited).

I can do that correct? If so, When can I estimate to have my passport, for sure by the end of august if I apply 7/27 @ the U.S Post office right?

Questions:

1. What are the payment options, can I pay with credit card @ the post office?

2. Do I have to pay the $25 Acceptance fee or only the $75 ?

3. Do I need to take more pictures for it or were the pictures for my N-400 application I signed @ the interview for my passport???

4. By applying regularly on 7/27/09 @ the post office, I should have my passport by September 1, 2009 easily correct?

Answers:

1. Yes, you can pay by Credit Card.

2. Yes, you pay a total of $101.00

3. I don't exactly understand the question, but you need pictures for your passport application.

4. I got my passport in less that 2 weeks. Be aware that you will receive your passport and citizenship certificate in separate envelopes and maybe in separate days.

Good luck.

Some oath ceremonies have stations available to apply for your passport as soon as your receive your certificate. Personally, I wanted to take copy of that certificate before I let it out of my hands.

1: I think the $75 fee has to be by cheque or money order. the $25 fee can be payed by credit card, if you wish.

2:You need to pay both.

3:You will need two more passport pictures.

4:That's hard to answer, you "should" have it, yes, based on most current experiences. In the worst case, if you haven't received it by mid August, you can chase it up by phone, or email. The passport agency is much more "user-friendly' than theUSCIS. If you still have a time crunch, you can go in person (by appointment) to the nearest passport agency, close to your trip to collect it in person. On you r application there is an optional section which asks what your travel dates are.

If you apply at the post office, you can pay the execution fee of $25 with a credit card and then $75 by cash, check or money order.

I am not recommending that you apply at the Oath ceremony venue. A lot of people will be applying there. My wife made that mistake and we waited at LEAST an hour in line. It took us 10 minutes when we applied for our baby's passport at the post office.

What i would suggest though is that you apply for a passport card. You can use it when you travel by land or sea to mexico, canada, carribean and bermuda. Its an additional $20 but you would only have to pay the execution fee once if applied together with the passport book. The card is pretty cool too! :)

You can ask the person at the post office for an estimated delivery time.

Check this website for your reference.

Definitely make a copy or several of them before sending your certificate off, you will need that if it gets lost.

Nobody can answer your questions about your post office than your post office, ask them.

Regarding the length of time it takes to get your passport, you really need a crystal ball that works to get that answer.

You can get the application from your post office, but has to be hand filled if you don't have a typewriter, prefer downloading the fillable Adobe form, version 9 finally lets you save it. Should print out the instruction and may as any other government form, read it 2 or 3 times. This can be done well before your oath ceremony and triple checked for any errors.

I preferred dealing with my city clerk, off tax time, she has plenty of free time, post office is always busy.
