I-90 for USCIS administrative error - How long does it take?

I just received my 10-yr green card. Everything looks good but the immigrant category.

I was CR6 while on a conditional residence and now I'm supposed to be IR6 after my conditions have been removed.

I got the new card under the CR6 category.

I really don't care much and I bet at the POE they won't even notice.

However I wonder if this is going to cause any problem/delay when I apply for citizenship in 3 months.

I have to travel several times in the next three months, with the first trip being in 3 weeks.

I'm not really for filing an I-90, since I have to send my original card.... and also I want to have a card when I file the N-400 at the end of July.

Anybody went through this?

How long does it take? I heard they're pretty fast if it's their mistake.... but will I have my new card back by May 22nd?

I don't really have time to schedule an infopass to talk to them....

eally have time to schedule an infopass to talk to them....

That must have been an error on USCIS part. Just send it back to them by fiiling I-90 form immediately, and probably schedule an INFOPASS for IR6 stamp in your passport. The corrected GC might not take a long time before it will come back to you.

what is IR-6 category or classification?

IR-6 is the classification symbol for spouses of U.S. citizens who have adjusted status while already in the US. Normally, the spouse of a U.S. citizen is an IR-1(that's the immigrant visa classification). When an alien adjusts status inside the U.S., the number 5 is added to the classification so IR-1 changes to IR-6.

IR-5 is the classification for parent of a U.S. citizen. If the parent adjusted status while in the US, the classification would be IR-0 because there is no "IR-10." (software only accepts 3 characters).

well first make sure there is a mistake and what USCIS recommend may be by infopass. regarding I-90 I had been through that as there was typo on my condional card. they were very slow and i had to call a number of times. They were telling me to sit and wait . Fortunately i was able to talk their superviser (on my request). I told her it is not my fault and i need it immediatly. Soon after that i got it in mail. In your case it seems unlikely to get before may 23rd but waiting for few more days may keep you away from any futur trouble.

It took over six months for us to get a "corrected" card. My wife's 10 year card came with IR6 instead of IF1 on it. We sent an I-90 and CSC ieventually ssued a new card with the IR6 code still on it. I have no idea why they issued a new card if they didn't think they made a mistake on the first one...

I'm definitely going to keep this card.

First I don't have time to go to infopass, second I have to travel, third I think nobody will even notice the mistake.

And I'll apply for citizenship with that card at the end of July as planned.

I think it's a wise decision not to delay your N400 application due to the mistake on USCIS part. If go for correcting the mistake who knows how long it

will take them to get you the corrected one back.
