I visited Halong Bay on my first trip to Vietnam and it was one of the experiences in Vietnam. We went to our hotel lobby in the morning and my wondeful wife told the receptionist that we wanted to go out on a boat and tour the caves. So a gentleman came to the hotel and she bargained the price of course. So he asked what we wanted to eat for lunch. So we order some prawns, lobster tails, oysters and so on. So we take a taxi for a short ride and we arive at the dock. The gentlemen leads us to the boat, which I was suprised at. The boat was a double decker and had 4 tables on the bottom floor and just 2 chairs on the top floor with no roof. The gentleman went to the market and bought fresh food that we wanted. The wife and I sat on the top level just staring in amamzement at one of natures most beautiful places. While we toured an amazing cave, they cooked our food on the boat. When we returned to the boat they took us out and anchored us in a spot that was just amazing. We ate lunch and returned to to top level for a very romantic afternoon. The boat cost us $30 for the day. The food was also cheap and very good. Boy that brought back so many memories.
Now we live together and share a wonderful life together.
Sorry I rambled on, but couldn't pass sharing that with you guys. If you ever get the chance to visit Halong Bay, make sure that you do.

This is among the great many posts you have done on the board
It's true, Vietnam is always known as a WAR but not a country to most westerners (said James when he's in HUE)
