I thought of sharing the letter we used to obtain police clearance certificate in Ahmedabad Police department and regional passport office.

Dear Sir or Madam:

I kindly request you to provide me Police Clearance Certificate for myself, as I have to submit the mentioned document to National Visa Center, Portsmouth, NH 03801, USA. By submitting this certificate my DS-230 application can be processed and than forwarded to local(Mumbai) consulate here in India for final adjudication.

My husband is representing myself for entire NVC (National Visa Center) process and hence, I would be forwarding this document to him. So, he can submit this document along with DS-230 application.

I had al together differen application...... application letter did just mention PCC for USA Immigrant visa. Thats all it said . ANd i hand wrote it on a sheet of blank paper in local language and specificallyt requested for the PCC to be made in ENGLISH.

hey, my wife is trying to get the PCC in Ahmedabad office too and they are giving such a hard time about it. What NVC letter did you include? and also when you say you "enclosed it" did you send this letter via mail? or in person?

Now can you tell me.. how was your wife able to get the PCC in ahmedabad. Also.. did your wife submit Passport office PC as well or not.. My husband is trying to get a passport PC in Ahmedabad, trust me.. they are giving him a hard time too..

Can you tell me.. what documents were given and how long did it took for her to get that..?? Please let me know..

They told my wife the same thing that she needs a call letter.

The sample letter didn't work for me. What did work for me was the DS-230 cover letter. Even though they kept asking for interview letter, when we showed them the DS-230 cover letter they immediately said "yep that's the letter we need" go figure!

It took about 4 working days to get the passport. The passport PCC comes with two originals. One you need to send to NVC with the DS-230 and the second beneficiary keeps it for the interview.

Thanks guys for the reply on this question.. when you said.. DS-230 cover letter.. you mean to say "the cover sheet with the barcode that you get after the IV fee bill paid.. Did you had to fill up an application for the PCC and what is the fee ??

Yes, that's the letter. And yes you need to fill out an application and the cost is 300 rupees.

Yes, that's the letter. And yes you need to fill out an application and the cost is 300 rupees.

My husband's passport issued in Jan, 2008 and within 6 months of time.. in that case i only have to submit passport office PC. i am going to submit only Passport office PCC with the DS-230. In that time frame, my case is completed here and transfered to Mumbai consulate. But if the interview is scheuduled after the 6 months issued time is over, than i need to submit the local PCC.

Now, it is ok for him to submit the local PCC at the time of the interview if they ask for that.. ?? or i have to submit to NVC first??

I haven't had to deal with this issue but I would advise you to get the local PCC now and submit it to NVC even if they don't request it. Get two originals that way you can take an original with you to the interview.

You could also e-mail mumbai consulate and wait for their response. You can then take a printout of the e-mail with you to the interview.

The local PCC is much easier to get so I think it may be worth while to just get it instead of relying on someone else's information.

Yesterday, i spoke with NVC live operator regarding this issue, they mentioned it will be ok for him to submit local PCC at the time of interview. My husband has already applied for local PCC, but you know na, Police officals in gujarat, how they work.. told it will take around 10 days before you can get.. Also, my husband has given (Rs500) to start the process.. which doesn't need any fees to start with the process.. I can wait to get the local PCC to submit with DS-230, the time constrant is too big to wait now.. i don't want to wait and i can mail the DS-230 now..since i will have all the required documents next week.. other wise have a wait another one week or so to get the local PCC.

Plus NVC will take time to enter the forms into the system.. It is just more time to wait..since you waiting so long for this now..
