My wife (from Ahmedabad) got her police clearance certificate from police commissioner's office for which she had to provide a passport photo and show her passport. Process starts from your local police station.

After getting her police clearance certificate from police department. She applied for police clearance certificate from regional passport office. Where she had to submit her original passport and there is a fee involved. Regional passport office would mail the original passport and certificate within 10 days. Also, she submitted in person.

In both cases you have mention that you seeking this certificate for us immigration visa.

Hope this helps...

Hey did you guys have to show interview letter to the local police station or regional passport office to start the clearance certificate paperwork? I was told they need to see this in mumbai local police stations before they get the paperwork started. Is there an alternate document one can show to substitute this interview letter document? Can anyone verify?

How is the medical process? If one cannot get their immunization records. Can they just simply pay for the whole check up needed by the authorized medical panel and complete all the medical check ups in one day?

Thanks!!!

For PCC - I emailed scanned copy of NVC letter, covering letter and a document about NVC appointment processing. you have to inform police department that there is a process change and you need to mail the pcc to NVC through ur spouse. it worked for us, we got it same day from commisioner's office. from regional passport office with 10 days, my spouse had submit her original passport.

Medical you need appoitnment letter....rest don't whether it could done in same day.

cheers

Thanks Giji and MGK for the valuable information. It's good to talk to people who are in the same situation. My wife just applied through an agent for the passport office clearance in Thane. The guy said it will take ten days and they took the passport and her ration card. I just hope we get everything as promised. I really hate leaving important documents with strangers but I guess I have to face reality because VFS will be holding our original documents anyway. I am wondering why the consulate in mumbai has not sent her a package three or four yet? The case was closed and sent to mumbai consulate on jan 3, 2008. Isn't it taking a little longer than normal to not have heard anything from the mumbai consulate yet? I know they are very busy. Hope we will hear something soon. Nice meeting you guys and thanks for the valuable info.

hi Johnny,

Its better you apply for stuff by yourself rather than handling your important stuff to some creepy agent... and its not that tough job when we can read and write... we just have to fill out a Misc form no. 2 and mention PCC for USA .... on the top ... attach the documents listen on the passport.gov.in website . The thanne passport office is open from 10 am to 12 noon... just for 2 hours from monday to friday. You have to submit your original passport with it. When I had gone...... agents who were applying were thrown out .. and they are really severe.... best of luck... once you apply.. you get receipt from them mentioning what you applied fr ... and you have to pay 300 Rs. cash........ You can download the form.. fill out .. attach the documents... and keep ur passport with ready... with the fees and just stand thier in line at 9 am sharp.... so your number will be first.... as soon as the open.. you will be done in 5 minutes....

I hope this helps

The passport with a PCC will be back to your home in 7 working days

Hey Jigi,

Unfortunately my wife already submitted it to the agent.I wish I would have had her apply for it herself but I figured there's too many rules of how each of these agencies handle things. What you suggested sounds way better but its too late for that so I just hope this is a good agent and does a good job. I rushed it so we don't lose any time but I hope it doesn't become a mistake And slow us down. How many weeks before interview did you get the checklist? Did you pick up the visa same day as interview? How long was your interview and did they give you a tough time? Thanks for the info.

Johnny

Hi,

A couple of queries and I hope somebody who got the PCC from Mumbai can help.

I'm from Blr and I studied in Mumbai for a couple of years so I need a PCC from there too. I got mine in Bangalore by going to the Commissioners office and then to the local police station when they called me and later went back to collect it. There was no Passport office involved nor did I submit my passport anywhere. A friend tried enquiring in the Commissioners office in Mumbai but he was told that I need to go the passport office! Can somebody explain the procedure to me and tell me how I can get it done in one trip to Mumbai please?

Also do I need to wait until the letter from the embassy before I proceed on this?

Thanks a lot,

This is really giving me sleepless nights.
