If you sent to the Chicago Lockbox...

Hi all. I did some reasearch and...:

If you sent an I-130 or I-129f petition to the Chicago lockbox anytime in the recent past, your petition is most likely at the California or Vermont service center.

I could be wrong (and if I am, put me straight), but here is my formula...

I went to the uscis page here: www.uscis.gov and registered an account.

I then went to the "Processing Times" link.

This page shows the general processing times and forms that are being processed at any given service center.

Since I live in Georgia, my form should go to Texas. But,....it appears that Texas is not processing I-130's or fiance visa's at this time (atleast from what the page says). Again I could be wrong on this and I'm sure someone will correct me.

Anyway, I also checked Nebraska and the same thing appeared. Not processing those same forms.

Soooo,....that only leaves California and Vermont.

I checked those service center processing times and it showed they were processing the I-130 and the I-129f.

So, there you have it. A very crude way of getting info. I called the immigration officer and social engineered her and she confirmed it also. Was also told that some forms were going back and forth between the centers in order to speed up the process. That was the reason for some people getting alot of "touches". The officer would get a file, look at the date, determine by it's contents if he/she could get it approved quickly (based on the other files he/she were already working). If not, he/she might pass it to another co-worker based on their experience level (another touch).

If that person is already piled high with files, they would log off it (touch) and get approval to mail it to yet another service center with a low caseload. The super reviews it to determine if it should be mailed (touch) to another center. (the directors don't like to look incompentant). He then logs off it (touch) and mails it with others like it.

Hope this sheds some light on what is going on.

Ours is kinda the same way. I-130 we send to Texas but seems winds

up in CA. Our I-129f wound up in Chicago but at the time they didn't

do I-129f's. I called Chicago and they told me to all CA.Go figure

If you had done more research you would have saved you and your case a lot of time by filling out your I130 and I129F together, stuck the photos and background documents in for each petition, written one check, and filed them together directly to the California Service Center.

Had two diferent transfer notices, one said Chicago the other

said Ca. for I-129, I-130 did go to Ca though, not Texas.

It saves the wait time for the NOA1 for the I130, even if it gets transferred around
