My case: I am on L1A. My attorney's filed my i140 application last week (for a green card). Meanwhile, I lost my job. Last day of employment is June 26. I have grace time to live in the US till Aug 25. Additionally, my spouse's company is sponsoring her L1A. If I file i539 to change status to L2, can I continue to look for a job in my L1 A company ? my L1A is valid till 2025. I would prefer to continue with L1A as that will enable a green card processing in next 1-2 years. Thanks.

Hi there, I got on offer to develop and work on a course for a US company as an instructor. Most of the work would be conducted here in Canada (developing the course, etc). I will however have to go to the US for 2 days to have the course filmed. This gig is paid but there is an option for them to pay me solely for the work I conduct here in Canada rather than the presentation I do in the US. Which option do you think is best suited for my case? Thanks!

I filed I765 a few weeks ago and put the OPT start date in Aug because my job start in Sep. However, I plan to take consulting/volunteering/internship arranged by my university before the OPT start date. I plan to work with a company outside of the States - go to their office and work - but my university will also pay stipend to me. Is it possible to do that? From what I understand, I will be exempt from having to wait for OPT start date because: - I will work remotely outside of the States and it is not required foreigners to get any work permit to work for US company - I am not hired by university as an employee, just as an individual contributor paid with stipend. So it is more like a foreign freelancer? I just want to make sure that I do not miss anything here Another question is can I also do this before my EAD card is arrived/approved (assume that I can find a way to send my EAD to my international address)? Thank you for your help!
