  1. Hello! We just got an update on our case and it has been transferred to Vermont from California. Is there any similar situations to us and do you know why this can happen? Thanks in advance!
  2. Hi everyone, We applied for a K1 visa and got NOA1 on 1/03/22. We put down the embassy location as Warsaw, Poland based on guidance for Russian applicants. With all the recent issues of Russians trying to enter Europe, we wanted to explore a different option. We both are residents of Turkey and we wanted to see if we can transfer our case to either the Istanbul or Ankara location. Our reasoning is that we are both residents and it would save us time and money (having to fly back to Russia, get a Schengen visa, go to a European country, and then go to Poland - where there is a lot of scrutiny to Russian passport holders.) My question is do I reach out the Turkish (Istanbul/Ankara) locations now or after NOA2 approval? I've heard conflicting information from many sources so I wanted to get someones input from here. Notes: I'm a US Citizen, my fiancee is Russian We both have been living together in Turkey since 2021 as Residents and we both hold valid resident permits We got NOA1 for our K1 visa application and listed Warsaw, Poland as our Embassy Location
  3. Hi everyone, our NOA2 approval is estimated to be any day now and we wanted to know if its possible to transfer our case to Mexico. We are living in Mexico City currently (I'm American, my fiancee is Russian). We aren't residents, but wanted to know the chances of getting the case transferred from the default location of Warsaw, Poland for Russian Citizens and what should we say the reasoning for the transfer request. (I was going to initially say the cost of flights, obtaining a Schengen visa, and travel time versus just going into our local Mexican US Embassy location). Thank you
  4. Good evening. I ham trying to determine if it would be smart for me to request with NVC to Transfer our CR1 Visa case from Nigeria to South Africa. We were DQ'd a few weeks ago and our Consulate is Lagos, Nigeria. Apparently they are still coordinating interviews for cases that were DQ'd in 2021!! My husband is Nigerian, but currently resides in South Africa and has his permit. 1. Does anyone know how difficult it is to get NVC to approve a transfer request? And how long? 2. Does anyone know about how long it is taking Johannesburg, South Africa to send out IL's? Because if it as backed up as Nigeria, then I won't waste our time. 3. Lastly, if we do have to stick it out for another year or so, is it OK for my husband to get a tourist visa so he can visit me? I've already been to him 3 times. Thanks in advance for any help or advice. This is such an emotional Rollercoaster. We started the whole process in August 2021. I had no idea that a U.S. citizen would have to go through such a lengthy process just to have the love of my life with me everyday. I know there are alot of others dealing with the same thing. Prayers to everyone.
  5. Hi I'm Ricardo Vilson, I've been DQ since the beginning of October 22, my case is now pending at NVC for interview. I'm in Haiti, so the interview should be held in the US embassy in Haiti, unfortunately the country is locked down at this moment, almost everything is closed at this moment, including the US embassy, due to current turmoil and protests all around the country. I'm forced to move in to Dominican Republic which shares the same border with my country, I'd like to know if I can't write NVC and ask for a transfer of my petition to the US embassy in Dominican Republic, before leaving the country.
  6. My Ukrainian fiancee has been trapped in Russian-occupied territory since the invasion began in February. She has the possibility to escape the "Lugansk Peoples Republic", travel across southern Russia to Georgia. She was nearly ready for her interview at the Kyiv embassy in December. She was only missing her birth certificate and police report. She was waiting at her mother's house in Russian-occupied Lugansk while waiting for her new birth certificate, which would be produced in nearby Severodonetsk. She was ready to pick it up, when the borders closed and the invasion began. If she can go to Tbilisi, we will have the option of transferring her case to the Tbilisi embassy or to the Frankfurt Germany embassy. Apparently, the Kyiv visa responsibilities were transferred to Frankfurt because the Kyiv embassy is not processing any visas. Now she does not have any of her documents except her passport. I am sure that, wherever we transfer case, we will have to pay a new fee for the DS-160 and she will need a new doctor's report. The Frankfurt embassy responded to an inquiry from my senator saying that we can choose to transfer the case to the embassy of our choice. I called the Tbilisi interview scheduler and they did not seem very friendly or helpful. Does anyone know if one of these embassies is a better choice than the other? Is one more accepting of the special circumstances of the war? (Not having a birth certificate or police report)
