Hello, I have submitted my documents online for the n400 application. Long story short, I came to the US in 6/2020 and lived with my inlaws for a month before finding a place for me and my wife. We applied “married filing seperately” that year. Why? I really don’t know and neither my wife did but her parents said thats what we should do so we did (I barely knew anything regarding taxes at that time). I just checked the 2020 tax returns and found that the address on wife’s return is her parents address while my return shows our address that we moved to in 7/2020. Her W2 shows the correct address so I upload it too. Will that cause a problem? Our leese shows both our names in 2020, even bank statements.

I am about to apply for citizenship, marriage based, we did our tax me and my wife together last 3 years using H&R block and randomly I was checking our account and I found that’s we gave a balance due to pay for IRS, However we already paid and done our tax with a professional agency. I m pretty sure H&R block miscalculate our tax. My question is do I need to fix that first and wait to apply for citizenship or I just send my tax return for 3 years, Since fixing that tax thing may take time

Hi, everyone. I am going to apply for "Removal of Conditions" (I-751) and then apply for N-400 early next year. I am almost 3 years living here in the USA and will file under 3 year rule. I started working last year and when I applied for my IRS Tax Return I applied as "jointly" together with my Spouse. In my case, I am the only one who is Officially working and my spouse can't provide a 3 year tax returns. I can send a 1 year tax return from last year I worked but I (we) couldn't provide the 2 year tax returns. We do have bank statements, phone bills, marriage certificate etc. Is it okay or acceptable that I could only provide a 1 year IRS Tax Return? Thank you!

I am helping my wife file her N-400 which asks "Have you ever not filed a tax return...?" We are unsure how to answer that question. I file joint returns for both of us and have never failed to file but, as a perennial procrastinator, I end up filing late most years. I am unclear on whether filing late counts as "not filing" for N-400 purposes. I get the sense from reading online that the major concern is failure to pay or failure to pay timely. However, we have always overpaid--never owed. So we are unsure how to answer that question since a mistake either way might create problems or delays.
