  1. I am a US citizen living and working abroad in Taiwan. My wife and I are seeking a CR1. I put $0 down on my i-864 since my current income will not continue once I move the U.S. I submitted last years tax transcipt and it was marked as accepted. All of the documents from our joint sponsor were also marked as accepted. Related to this we recieved 2 Case RE notes. First Case RE says that my income is not sufficient and that I could get a joint sponsor. An error on their end, should I just ignore it or reach out to NVC via the inquiry form to clarify? Obvious error but hate to just assume everything is ok. Second Case RE asks for me to submit MY evidence for income. Since I have a joint sponsor and my income is $0 from working overseas, I thought it would be irrelevant, so I only uploaded my tax transcript. What do you think they are looking for here? I can provide them my previous yearly official income summary. It is in both Chinese and English except for my address (hope I wouldn't need to deal with a translator for something so minor). I also have my monthly pay stubs but they are very unofficial (literally just a template from excel with numbers plugged in, looks fake if you didn't know any better). Or maybe they just want to know that my income will not continue once I move. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.
  2. As my wife is a Taiwanese citizen, and I am an American citizen, can we first move to USA together, her with a visitor visa, and file an I-485 adjust status, along with all the other Immigrant visa paperwork and documents, for her to get her immigrant visa, all the while living in the USA? I saw a posting online, stating one's spouse could already be living with them in the USA (not sure about what visa), and file the I-130 and I-485 at the same time, for the path to getting the green card. To give a little background about the details of our case, we already had an immigrant visa issued to my wife a few years back and were unable to use it when it was valid. We re-started the process last year, sending in her passport with the IV to the U.S. Embassy and they reopened our case. Would we need to refile the I-130 in America to do the above? Or is it too late to do this option as we've already started our case and the Embassy here in Taiwan knows all about it? Hope to get any helpful comments. Thanks!
  3. What's everyone's opinion on bringing a desktop PC (and an Oculus quest 2) on check in for EVA airlines MNL>TPE(4.5hr layover)>SFO? My PC is too heavy for carry on so my only option is check in, I'd rather not leave it behind. What are the chances of theft? And how much does the airline reimburse for missing items if it does get stolen/lost? TIA.
  4. is there anyway to predict the outcome of our visa interview in Taiwan, about how fast we'll receive the visa to the US? Does it matter the time if I plan out the time for 2023 or it just doesn't matter? Too hard to predict? If you're in Taiwan and you've been through the process, how fast does the process take on average?

  6. I am an American citizen and my wife is Taiwanese. We will be immigrating to the US next year and we are trying to explore some different job possibilities for her. We are in the process of getting the CR1 so she will have a green card upon arrival. She has a bachelor's degree in Business Management from a Taiwanese University and her work experience has been mostly Assistant and Reception jobs at International Corporations in Taiwan. However, she is not incredibly interested in staying with that career path. Her English language ability in speaking and writing is high intermediate. Her Speaking level is especially good. Also a native Mandarin speaker. We are wondering what kind of jobs immigrants in her position are able to find. Will it be very difficult to find jobs that are not labor or service industry jobs? She has interest in possibly doing something related to social media marketing, life enrichment/event coordination for elderly homes or health and wellness related jobs. Anything specifically related to Chinese and English language ability would be another option too. She has taken courses on teaching Mandarin to foreigners in Taiwan in the past. Going back to school for a new degree would be a massive decision we're not sure about yet, but if there were jobs or opportunities that required shorter courses or certifications that would be very doable for us. If anyone has a similar experience or ideas to help us get started in finding good possibilities we'd be really appreciative. Thanks so much!
