Hello friends! First, I just wanted to thanks in advance to this lovely community 💜 A little about my status: I am currently working abroad since Feb 2023 until Feb 2024 as a deployed delegate for an US company. I'm permanent resident (conditional, based marriage) since March this year. I got it while overseas. My issue!: I'll be back to the USA next week, and will stay there for 5-6 weeks (until biometrics) to apply for the reentry permit but was hoping someone could provide advice if that is necessary because I will only be abroad for 11 months (as LPR) when my work contract ends, should I still apply for reentry? I asked USCIS agent and told me that estimated processing times is 17 months, so I'm worried 😕 maybe I can extend my contract but definitely not enough to cover all the months, and, overall, I have a conditional LPR, 2 years, so I have to be back before March 2025... If I decide to return to the USA, let's say in March - April 2024, with a pending reentry application, would I be ok? Thanks in advance! Michelle

This is a story that was published in my local news. I know the family. Mexican National cannot legally return to US with Husband and kids Long story short: -She arrived in the USA at 4yrs old illegally and has lived here most of her life -At 22yrs old, she married a US citizen (2012) in the States -They have 5 children together -She wanted to file legal documents to become a legal resident, obtain a license, etc -She was advised to fly to Mexico to start the process - She was denied Re-Entry to the USA - Its been 18 months since her denial and she has been stuck in Mexico ever since -Family is desperate for solutions -Lawyer states she may have to stay in Mexico (separated from her husband 5 kids for up to 10 years) Does anyone have any advice? Any sort of help is appreciated! Thanks

Hello everyone, I have 2 questions that I am hoping I can get some help with or information from anyone who has been through a similar experience. I applied for my re-entry permit (i-131) in July and gave my biometrics in September (online status shows that my fingerprints were accepted). Once I had my biometrics appointment, I left the USA and came back to the U.K. I understand that a re-entry permit can take up to a year to be completed. I wanted to know if I can still travel to and from the USA with this permit pending? Or should I wait until I have my re-entry permit in hand to be able to travel? My next question concerns taxes. I became a LPR in May 2022. I have not yet moved to the United States (for various reasons) but I will be making the permanent move in 2023. Do I need to submit a tax return for 2022? Or do I only submit a tax return once I have officially moved and resided there for a longer period of time. Any answers would be massively appreciated. Thank you.
