@joaovily What did you put for your household? I am in the same boat... As I read: So if my wife is filing for her mother (my mother-in-law)... My mother-in-law is the applicant for I-485. Do I put a household of 1 (applicant only)? The way I read it You = Mother-in-law (applicant) = +1 Your Spouse = N/A. Mother-in-law is divorced, she is the only applicant Your Parents = N/A. Mother-in-law is the only applicant Your unmarried siblings under 21 = N/A Your children as defined in INA 101(b)(1) = Cannot figure out what this is, but from what I read here (removed link), my wife is not a stepchild and is over 21 Any other individuals... (for both bullets) = N/A. Applicant has never filed a federal income tax return. Or do I put a household of 5 (my family plus my mother-in-law/applicant)? i-485.pdf i-485instr.pdf

I had filed my application on 12/15/2022, but due to having two expired forms, the USCIS sent it back to me. Now I found out they released a new form I-485 with this question about Public charge. It is my understanding that since I'm applying as a immediate relative (U.S. Citizen spouse), I would indeed be subject to the Public charge ruling. This is making me really scared since I have a joint sponsor. My question would be how is this affecting applicants from inside the United states? Has anybody heard of marriage green card applicants (AOS) being denied during the interview part? I have been working and supporting myself for the past 6 years in the USA, never used any type of benefits and never even been to a Hospital.

My CR1 interview at the Brussels embassy is on July 7. I have been receiving public benefits for a few years from the Belgian government due to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. I have been working towards regaining a more independent status, and new medication recently has been helping me along. For example, I now have my own business as a part-time editor, which I'm hoping to expand, but my main income currently is still the government benefits. Is my case at risk of being refused under the pretext of 'becoming a public charge' (not my intention!). If so, is there anything I can/should do to prepare a rebuttal during the interview? -
So if we answer NO on question 61, do we continue answering the rest of questions down to 68?
