Hey folks - After years of applications, interviews, and sometimes lengthy, sometimes quick responses to applications, my partner had his oath ceremony last week and is officially a citizen. Now the tricky part. His father is in poor health, not dying, but in need of familial assistance, and we were set to visit said father for three months in Germany to help set up caregiving services. His flight is on the 15th of July and he received his Naturalization Certificate the day of his ceremony, on the 6th. We've been calling the DoS Passport agency line for urgent travel as early as July 1st and there are 0 appointments nationwide for first time applicants traveling in 14 days. We're calling every day and each day, nothing is open. He still holds his German citizenship (through a Beibehaltungsbescheinigung for anyone interested) and we have a place to stay in Germany for the time we're there and we're confident he can leave the country on his German passport without any issue given what I've read from other posts here. My question then: Can he apply for his first passport abroad? The embassy website specifically lists a Certificate of Naturalization as one of the "proofs of citizenship" allowed for such applications. But there's a fair bit of mixed information on the "grey zone" of leaving on your other passport and older posts here aren't conclusive about the situation. We would be there long enough for him to receive the passport and can also stay in Germany longer if needed. Thanks for any insight!

I had my N400 interview approved in Chicago on 9/15/22, there was no same day oath available. I'm still waiting for my oath ceremony date. Curious to see how long you guys had to wait for your oath ceremony after the N400 interview in Chicago. My interviewer said I should receive a notice in 2 weeks, but it has been almost 4 weeks now and guess what... still nothing haha. Can't wait to get this over with since I need to make some travel plans. Many thanks!!

Hello, I couldn't really find a relevant forum so I'm hoping this might reach someone who has some insight. I am a UK Citizen currently on a 10 yr Green Card expiring in Sept 2022. I have applied for US Citizenship. Mostly because: 1: Our long term plans are to live in USA 2: My mother in UK is unwell and I may need to return and live there for more than a year to care for her and I don't want to have my Green Card rescinded or need to apply for exceptions after 1 year. So, the best course of action seems to be to gain Citizenship that way I can work and live in the UK as a UK citizen but then return to USA as a US citizen at a later time. I do understand there are tax implications to do that and I'll need to file when I am in UK. My question is, do I have any big blind spots or concerns with this course of action? Plus my wife is a US citizen and will need to work in the UK so any insight into wat the best plan/Visa type for her would be appreciated. Thank you, Tim
