  1. Hi everyone! I’m sure many of you are just as frustrated as me and my Fiancé with this K1 visa process. We’ve been recently hit with the 221G twice, and in our case; it is truly a strange predicament given the evermore strange circumstances. It all started with my Fiancé’s medical exam on March 6th, 2024 in Mexico City. The exam went smooth; she opted to receive every required vaccination, and went through all the medical screenings. Except when it was done, the clinic told my Fiancé that they will send her medical results to the Embassy in Ciudad Juárez themself instead of her bringing to the interview with medical packet in hand. On interview day, March 14th, 2024, the interview was really strange in of itself. We’re trying to get a K1 visa for my Fiancé; however, the interview officer only asked her 3 Questions and all only pertained to my Fiancé. Have you been to the United States before? Yes, on a B2 tourist visa. Have you violated the term of your visa? No, Sir. Have you committed any crime? No, Sir. And that was the questions. A brief moment after looking through his computer, he issued us a 221G. He repeated the same statement that was on the 221G blue paper, the visa cannot be issued at this time due to “technical problem” medical exam was not present at the time of the interview. He told my fiancé that the Embassy will hang on to her passport until they received her medical exam to make their final approval decision. On March 26th, 2024, the embassy sent us a notice that they DHL overnight us something. Sadly, it wasn’t the visa approval package, it was just her passport and another blue paper 221G. Here is where it gets really strange. The 221G stated that a final decision cannot be made because the medical exam was Incomplete. They require us to take a new medical exam at the same clinic; however, a new medical appointment cannot be made no earlier than September 3rd, 2024. From my understanding, the 221G request encourage the applicant to act immediately upon taking actions. So why are they making us wait 6 months to get a new medical appointment? And this time upon getting the result, they require us to DHL it to them. We are truly frustrated because even if we try to get the new medical appointment, we are required to show the 221G form to the clinic in order for them to accept my fiancé. I mean the 221G didn’t stated that she did not pass her medical. It just that it was incomplete. Why would we have to wait because they made a mistake on their end? Please, has anyone had to go through this? An extra 6 months wait just for a new medical exam for no fault of are own is truly unfair punishment. Please let us know. Thank you, Everyone!
  2. Hey, A couple years ago I was feeling down when I came back home from Australia and was separated from my partner, went GP and they prescribed me seraltine. It didn't last long, probably less than 6 weeks I think it was without finishing the seraltine. It does not say anything on my patient care summary anything about it either. But to be safe for the medical exam, should I say yes to having depression before still and then requesting a letter from my GP saying I am no threat to myself or others? I've never self harmed or harmed others either. Any advice would be really appreciated, thank you
  3. Hi, I'm immigrating to the USA from Canada with a IE-1 Visa as well and I'm just signing up for my medical exam in Montreal. Would you please be able to help me select the correct medical exam "type?" Do you recall having a similar list to choose from? Medical Exam Type 1. Canadian Permanent Resident 2. Work Permit 3. Student Visa 4. Visitor Visa 5. Refugee Status 6. I don't know Thank you for any help you can provide.
  4. Hey all, sorry if this is something that has already been answered but as always i find conflicting information. Are vaccinations mandatory prior to the issuance of a K1 Visa or are they something that can be done before AOS and once in the US? Thanks in advance!
  5. Hello all, there is something that has been gnawing at me since starting the process. Theres a few posts I was able to find now discussing the possible link to poor mental health and denial of the visa. I don't plan on going too much in depth so here is the situation: I had been in therapy from age 12 til I was 18. On top of that I had an involuntary hospital stay for about a month when I was 12 as well due to the doubt I could cause fatal harm to myself. I am currently looking for another therapist because up until I was 18 I was a minor and now I am an adult and therapists usually specify here on which age group they treat. The only diagnosed conditions I have are depression, PTSD and an unspecified personality disorder. Most of the information I can find is rather outdated, since I feel as though the stigma around mental health has lessened a little with recent years, but I do know that that unspecified personality disorder might be a problem because that part definitely hold a lot of stigma still. Now, luckily I don't have a lot of visible scars that might make my past clear in the medical exam. I do plan on going on an anti-depressant with my new therapist, which I believe is something I would definitely have to tell whoever will examine me. So my question is now: How much should I offer up? Do I have to offer up anything at all besides the medication? I was 12 at the time of the hospital stay which is basically a decade ago and I was a child. I see most people don't want to risk pretending like that part of them doesn't exist but rather are upfront about it, gathering mostly letters from a GP and possible therapist proving that they are no harm to themselves or other people. It does sound like the safer route to go. Personally I am also from Germany and I've seen some employers literally be able to find out whether or not you've been in therapy before. Anywho, any experiences, advice or tips for how to go about this would be appreciated! Many thanks!
  6. Hello all. We finally got our Visa interview email yesterday We have come across a bit of a snag when it comes to scheduling his medical exam in South Africa.. According to the state department website there are only 2 medical offices that are approved to perform the medical exam in South Africa but when we call we cant get an appointment prior to my husband's Visa interview on April 6th. we just spoke to the one in Cape Town and they don't have openings until April 13th and the other option, Which is in Johannesburg, require us yo send an email request on their website. Any advice on other options, besides rescheduling the visa interview, which is not an option.. I can't believe there are only 2 options in all of South Africa we get so close and then always hit another obstacle.
  7. My wife had her medical examination at the IMC Almaty office on Mukanova street today for her IR-1 visa. Two things that are noteworthy that we wanted to post here for anyone about to do the same. 1) She had to receive 2 vaccinations and was charged 25,000 Tenge total for them. She paid 95,000 Tenge (70,000 for the exam and x-ray + 25,000 for the 2 vaccines). She was not offered the COVID-19 vaccine, does not have it, and is not required to as Russian vaccines are not CDC or WHO approved. 2) She was told that "family reunification visas" are not given envelopes with documents anymore and that they are now done electronically. I told her that that is not what all the paperwork we have received from the IMC and consulate has said. She actually went back to IMC and told them that she is getting an IR-1 visa and that we were told she would receive a sealed envelope to take to the consulate. They told her that it is no longer done like that and it is all electronic now. Has anyone else experienced this? I am concerned that we may have problems at the consulate but there is nothing we can do as my wife already returned to IMC to clarify the situation.
  8. I have in English an immunization record document that I know is internationally recognized, and I know also as a fact that it is also accepted by the US immigration. However all vaccines were taken outside of Canada. All places that take the medical exam (at least the ones I looked in Ontario) request the vaccine checklist to be filled out by a family doctor or a walk-in clinic. Problem is I don't have a family doctor and everyone knows how hard it is to find one. So my only option is a walk-in clinic. Has anyone been in this situation before and would a doctor in a walk-in clinic be willing to fill out the vaccine checklist since all vaccines were taken outside of Canada and they may not recognize my immunization record document?
  9. Hi Shanna. I'm currently facing a very similar situation. My wife suffers from Bipolar 2 disorder. I filed a I-130 petition for her. We're very worried that her condition might affect the process and she might be considered as inadmissible. I'd really appreciate if you could share your experience with that, assuming you already finished your process as this was asked almost 3 years ago.
  10. Hello All, Our request to expedite our spousal visa process was approved, and the US Embassy in Spain has given us an interview appointment date in the next two weeks. However, there is also a requirement for a medical exam prior to the interview. The US Embassy gives a single medical provider, in Madrid, who is authorized to do the exams. We called them all day on Thursday (yesterday), and when we finally reached someone, they said the person who schedules medical exams for visas was unavailable. I have a couple of questions that I'll throw out in to the ether. 1. Is there really only one medical office in all of Spain for these exams? For people living outside of Madrid, this requires two trips to Madrid. (Or one very long stay, which is what we're considering for our situation.) 2. Can anyone share their recent experience with the medical exam process in Spain? Is it absolutely required to attend the medical exam 10 days prior to the interview? Will we really have to go in-person to the medical office to pick up the results? The second set of questions have been emailed to the folks at the Embassy who took over our case when the request to expedite was approved. Hopefully, I'll have an answer from them on Friday.
