  1. I just got married and want all the tips and advice on what to do next. Fiance came on a K1. We got married within 90days and applied for her Social Security Number. Waiting for that and marriage license. Applying for her I-485 next. What tips and advice do you have?!
  2. Me and my husband applied for the CR1 online but I was wondering if there's a difference between online vs mail application in -for example- processing time? We haven't applied that long ago and I know that the myprogress bar isn't that accurate but it went from 10 months to 3 weeks on Monday and I was wondering if it means anything? I know it's very early for it but I was just curious.
  3. So, it is time for us to start the naturalization process. I have been LPR since 2015 and thus qualify for both A & B conditions of eligibility (a. have been a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.A. for at least 5 years, regardless of marital status, and b. have been a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.A. for at least 3 years and are the spouse of a U.S. citizen for the last three years). Which box is it best for me to tick? I'm asking because (b) requires much more proof paperwork. Any guidance is much appreciated
  4. Greetings, I am a USC, currently waiting on I-130 approval for my Pakistani bride. We are not at the NVC stage yet. I went to file my taxes and the only option H&R Block would give me is to file as single. Since the wife does not currently have an SSN, is unemployed, and resides overseas. I do not have or plan to get an ITIN for her. My question is that would filing single while married to an overseas spouse cause problems at the NVC? Do I have to file an amendment immediately and have it ready by the time NVC requires it? Can I send this amendment after she finally arrives in USA and get an SSN? Has anybody here ever had a problem with the NVC process due to this filing as single, instead of Married filing separately or Head of household? Anybody ever experienced any negative impacts on the immigration petition or embassy interview stage due to having filed single while married to a foreign spouse? Do I have to go back to H&R block to request an edit/amendment or just leave it be? Please send your reply in detail with credible sources.
  5. My husband had a K-1 visa interview in January 2020 and was denied for a year because his drug test was positive but he hadn’t smoked in months when we started the visa process. He was supposed to get randomly tested but didn’t know because he was so disappointed that I was pregnant and he was denied that he didn’t go through the papers and understand that he had to contact St. Andrews for them to know to contact him to do the random test (which I think is stupid I think the embassy should contact them or they should know the test is positive when they send it over and make a list of the people interview dates so they know to contact them after for the year) so I lost the baby the next month and decided that July I wanted to get married in case we got pregnant again I would share my baby last name. I started the process for the spousal visa in September that year. We got our case sent over to the embassy January 29, 2021 and his interview was August 19, 2022. When he went to get do his medical that’s when we found out about the random testing he should have been doing. They said he couldn’t do it but then changed their minds and let him. When he went to his interview they said they needed his medical and a court document about a case he had in 2011. He has been back 4 or 5 times but we have not heard anything back. He went for his last test last week Friday and next month will make it 6 months since his interview. I don’t know what to expect but this is going on year five of us together but apart and I need some type of hope
  6. Hello! My husband went to make his taxes for 2021, because I will need it to show to the consular officer. He got it done, but he is listed as "single". He told me that they weren't able to file for him as married because I don't have a SS number. So, don't have my name on it. Is that correct? Is it acceptable for immigration purposes if he's listed as single? Sorry I don't understand anything about tax returns etc. Our interview date is coming and I don't know if it is correct. If it's not, he will need to do it again as soon as possible! Please help! Thank you!
  7. Hello, I need help. My case number has arrived last April 2021. But when my mother filed my immigration petition, my status was Single. The petition arrived last April 2021, and I am already got married last April 2016. I was wondering, how would my mother do the changing of status for me, as the petitionee, from single to married. Please point me to the link of the process. Thank you.
  8. So I'm here for some ideas and what to do because i was unaware of certain procedures or interview techniques now being used by uscis. My Situation is as such, in 2020 my plan was to go Jamaica and get married to my then baby mother there, but covid happened making it impossible, we have always did visits back and forth since 2018 after the birth of my daughter nd she has a B1/B2 Visitors Visa (didn't see them for a whole year due to covid restrictions). Long story short she came here for summer break and in less than a month I convinced her to lets do a crazy wedding meaning just us and witness and court house because I didn't wanna be alone without her and my daughter again for so long, this was all on me and she agreed and we got married (less than a month after POE). Part of my decision was merely based on being in the military and wanted to make sure my family was cared for should i get deployed and anything happened. Now she is still on a visitors visa (until January) and paid leave from her current Job (Jamaica) until January 2022. what are my options if i decide to file for her and make adjustments. one lawyer coated a $12000 cost because he said I need a waiver because we got married so quick. what are some of yall experiences in this situation and what's yall advice in these situations Appreciate yall comments, thanks
  9. When submitting the green card package, I am wanting to also submit the EAD and AP forms (so I can work and hopefully travel to my homeland occasionally while my green card is processing). Since the average processing time for the green card to be approved is 18-24 months in my processing office, I am wanting to submit Form I-131 (Advanced Parole) so that I can travel home during that 2-year period. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is this allowed when I submit my green card application? 2. See photo attached - what would be my application type? 3. When I get my EAD card, is the AP part of this or is it a separate card/document? I am fairly newbie to all this so thanks for the help guys.
  10. Hello, I have a few questions, I have been waiting and finally in the process of divorce from my first wife. While waiting I fell in love and we want to get married, if we get married a few days after my divorce is finalized, will that be a red flag? Also if I submit the I-130/A soon after the marriage would that be a red flag? I would not be in such a rush but we know we want to be married and live together and I want to start the process especially if it takes 8-10 months or longer. Thanks in Advance.
  11. f GOT APPROVED. wE WEHello, my name is Laura. Almost 2 years ago, after my fiancée proposed on August 2019 we applied for the K1 Visa and our I-129F got approved. While we were waiting for our interview date so we can finally get the visa (Him in the US and me in Venezuela) the Covid19 hit and the borders of my country (Vene zuela) closed (March 2019). After 1 year and 3 months of being on a long distance relationship (8 months of those during quarantine), when the borders finally opened we decided to meet for Christmas 2020 (We were still waiting for an interview in Bogota Colombia) (I came on a Tourist visa and we were actually doing tourism on a 2 week road trip were we visited 7 states from NC to WI). By the end of January 2021 and close to my return ticket we finally received news about the embassy stating that they will continue with the interviews. Although after a lot of thinking, we agreed that it was risky to travel during those times (What if they just close the borders again and I don't have the enough resources to stay in Colombia, no family, anything, My house is in Venezuela where I lived but there is no embassy there) and that all we wanted was to be husband and wife as we always dreamed of. So, we got married on April 2020. Now, we are filing for AOS and I encountered this question: Part 3. Item 1. "Have you ever applied for an immigrant visa to obtain permanent resident status at a U.S. Embassy?" Yes or No. The reality is that a K1 is a non immigrant visa, but with intends to immigration. So, I am confused about what to answer. We are planning on sharing our story. We applied for a K1 after getting married as it is supposed to do. But this pandemic hit us hard. So now we just wanted to move on and finally start our lives together. I am worried that it will affect our case.
