  1. Hello, Filipino beneficiary here. My medical is halfway done, and after my interview, the CFO comes next. My fiancé and I have a 21 year age gap, and I’m only 20. I hear from others CFO will not like that. I honestly am more scared of it than the interview, where I could be talking to American consuls instead, because what if the CFO officer denies a certificates based on that age gap alone? The reason I’m worried is because of experiences I hear from my fellow Filipinos. The CFO is the bigger battle to me because sometimes its also fellow Filipinos who drag down other Filipinos. For those who know here, is there any tip or added step you guys could advise me? Additional documentation to show? Specific attitude? When to schedule even?
  2. Curious about the typical timeline lately for CEAC status updates after being verbally approved for K-1 interview in Manila. We got the "Approved" status 24 hours after the interview, and now waiting for the final "Issued" status. Anyone with recent experience?
  3. So it seems I made a big blunder sending a lot of original documents to my fiance in Manila via USPS as they hand them off to Philpost which is notoriously unreliable. If she doesn't get that package in time (or at all), it seems she can only present photocopies of things like my paystubs, tax transcripts, W2s, etc. which fortunately I backed up. The only original documents I am providing her in my next package (sent DHL) are 1 paystub, I-134, signed letter from employer, Letter of intent to marry, divorce certificate (1 page - ordered recently w. official state seal). The rest will be photocopies. Anyone have any insight into whether or not this will be acceptable? Btw has anyone had any success sending via USPS priority mail (6-10 days w. tracking #) to Metro Manila in less than 1 month? I am still hoping she can get my original package of documents before her interview.
  4. Hi I am a US citizen and my wife and I have been DQ’d since June 2023. We are awaiting an interview appointment at US Embassy Manila. Does anyone know or hear anything about US Embassy Manila picking up the pace on issuing interview appointments? Is it normal to wait 9+ months for an interview at US Embassy Manila?
  5. Wondering if anyone has gone through the CFO course for a K-1 visa lately and what are your experiences? Mainly interested in the types of documentation they will ask for. I am seeing sites reporting that my fiance may need to provide things like: 1. Affidavit of invitation and support (financial support/safety/medical insurance) written by the sponsoring spouse notarized and authenticated by the Philippine Embassy or Consulate which has jurisdiction over the destination or host country, 2. Declaration of undertaking of travel in letter format to include an itinerary of travel and how to ensure safe travel and stay, and 3. Letter explaining why the foreign partner cannot travel to the Philippines. Has anyone ever actually been asked for any of those above listed items. I want to be as prepared as possible, but do I really need to go find a Philippines Consulate to notarize a statement of support??
  6. Hi All, I just want to make sure our appointment date is not a system glitch. K1 Visa appointments at Manila Embassy aren't just only available on Tuesdays right? I found one on Friday, which seemed odd....but I noticed there were other days available like Monday and another Friday appointment on January as well. Her embassy confirmation page clearly says K1 Visa for this date on Friday. I just want to make sure my fiancé wont get turned away at the embassy that day.
  7. Has anyone had any experience with a late registered birth certificate in the K1 visa process for the Philippines. We are waiting for our NOA 2, and have some concerns with my fiancé's birth certificate. It was first registered when she was 15 years old (she is now 27). We have notarized affidavits from her parents and midwife, but are having some trouble with earlier records -- no baptismal certificate and her elementary school was small one in the province and she thinks they may not have kept her records -- but we will of course try. Has anyone been approved with affidavits only? Her birth certificate is PSA, she has a valid passport and all kinds of other IDs. Also, her birth address on the front is slightly different than on the back (same city), and her parents ages are listed as being 1 year older than they actually were when she was born (as if they were rounded up). Does anyone know if this is a big deal? We are looking into getting a corrected BC but sounds like it can be a long process, and we may not have time. Thank you so much for any insight anyone can provide.
  8. I think I have a pretty good handle on what we need to do after we get our NOA 2 approval for our K1 visa (Philippines), but I am wondering if someone who has been through the process recently could put these items in exact chronological order, (and let me know if I am missing anything): Receive NVC welcome letter Submit DS 160 Pay MRV fee Schedule Interview (it seems my Fiancé must do this online and is not automatically assigned a date) Schedule Medical exam Attend Interview Schedule CFO Course after visa is in hand (AOSG is not required to leave the country for K1 visa as far as I can tell)
  9. Good day. My mil spouse is pcs'ing to Japan this December. We just got married and enrolled to deers. Now they required the dependent to complete the EFMP vector online which includes 2 pages for medical, and 1 page for dental form. He was advised that any local clinic provider will do. Based on filipina spouse I talked to who are already in Japan, they all give information that only St. Luke's is the only accredited provided for US related medical screening. Anyone going through the same process here in the PH ?
  10. Hello Everyone, After 20 months, my fiancé finally had her K-1 visa interview at the embassy in Manila, Philippines on October 3. The bad news is, because of an oversite on my part, we were missing a document and she was given a 221g. The counselor told her not to worry, that as soon as they got the required document, we visa would most likely be approved. The 221g letter listed the single document required (which we have) along with instructions about how to submit the document along with the required forms and her passport. All that was self explanatory. The issue we are having is, the letter said to BOTH submit the document on CEAC (followed by sending hardcopy via courier) AND to just send the documents in (no scan and upload) via courier. I have attached a copy of the 221g she received for reference. The issue is, for a K-1 visa, I have never been able to create a personal account to "login" to. I've tried many times. We were only able to do our DS-160 there and to check our case status. When I go to the https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx page, enter our case number and invoice ID number, all we get on the next page is: "K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case." The only option is to click the "OK" button which simply takes you back to the login page. Of course the DS-160 has been finished for a while, and there was no issue at the interview when it was examined. So my question is, is there a special place for K-1 visa applicants to access and upload documents to CEAC? Thank you in advance to any advice you may have for us.
  11. I apologize if this is a dumb question. How long should you plan on spending in the Embassy to do the interview on the date of? I will be traveling with my fiancé and staying with her in Manila while she does her Medical exam and Embassy interview. We plan to get a hotel near the embassy. Her appointment is the earliest at 7:00AM. I understand I won't be able to go in, but I will accompany her outside till she gets in. I also understand that we should get there way before like at 5:00AM to start lining up outside. I also understand that the actual interview with a consular officer is usually just 2 to 5 minutes long. But I am not sure about the rest of the process. I know that she will have to go through several stations before meeting with the consular officer for the actual interview. She will also have to sit for a bit to wait between stations. Starting timer from when you are in the embassy and stopping when you are good to leave the embassy, how long is that time? 1hr, 2hr, 3hr, 4hr? I just want to gauge how long I would have to wait for her to finish. We plan to just meet up back at the hotel since she can not bring her phone. I am just curious how long I would have to wait before I can expect her to come back to the hotel. Because if she will be at the embassy all day till like 5PM, I will just plan to have a solo day and not wait around at the hotel for her.
  12. Hi All, Our NOA2 was approved on 07/20/2023. We are preparing the documents for the interview checklist for the US Embassy in Manila. I have gone through the checklist on the site and have a question on the requirement to provide Proof of Relationship. I assume this is for proof of ongoing relationship, since proof of having been met within 2 years was already submitted as part of I-129F and approval of I-129F means this requirement is met. For Proof of Ongoing Relationship, will we need to provide similar evidence as what we submitted for the I-129F? Some photos of us together since the I-129F petition (I have visited my fiancé twice since NOA1) and a notarize Affidavit of Intent to Marry? Or will some photos suffice? Thank You
  13. Hello, I recently completed the IR2 visa interviews for my 2 children in Philippines. The officer held on to their passports and explained that everything is good. However, they need a certified copy of our marriage certificate. My county tax office offers an electronic certified copy. Can I go that route and just upload it in CEAC? Or do I need to get a physical certified copy too and have it shipped to Philippines and dropped off at LBC? The post-interview document checks off both options, but I’m not sure if it’s just an either-or thing. Has anyone else had experience with this situation?
  14. Hello, I am new here. I'm thankful I've found this site as the amount of information here is very helpful. I am a domiciled American citizen living here in the Philippines with my Filipina wife. I am employed by an American company and have been assigned here for work for several years. Due to a staffing shortage, my employer is now urgently requesting for me to return to the United States. After research it seems we may qualify as an exceptional circumstance to directly file here in Manila. Has anyone had any recent experience with filing directly with the US Embassy in Manila, mainly after field offices were closed I believe in 2019? Other notable information to our case is that I hold dual citizenship (reason I am able to stay here) and we are recently married.
  15. Hello, anyone got the same situation as mine before? got interviewed last tuesday USEM Manila (april 4, IR2) and it went well until the end of the interview, I got a 221g white letter. CO asked for a joint sponsor and its documents. In the letter it is asking me to upload those docs at CEAC before mailing it to the courier. But the only option is uploading it through my petitioner's additional documents since the option to add joint sponsor is long gone. My question is, is it okay to upload it through petitioner's additional docs AND how long will this process usually take? I know this is a case to case basis, but for those who had the same situation before, any response is appreciated :)
  16. We were emailed that my moms case was expedited and NVC sent our application to the US Embassy and they will contact us to schedule an interview. Im quite confused as I know we still need to do some medical. Hope you can help us out for the next steps. Here are my questions for clarifications. Our CEAC Status is : READY A. Do we need to wait for an email/letter for the schedule? B. When do we schedule for the medical? C. How do we schedule for the medical? D. If we are to schedule for the interview how and what site? E. We have our MNL Case ID and Invoice No. Is there anything else we need to know? Tia Penny
  17. Hi guys, we've finally gotten our interview date! Some questions: 1. Petitioner has switched jobs - should we update the I864/AOS? 2. I've moved houses - should we update the DS260? 3. My NBI is still valid (expired June 2023) but the address is still my old one. Is that ok? Thank you!
  18. I just have some inquiries to help my friend/coworker to file a petition for her kids in the Philippines. The i824 or the i130, her father petitioned her before and the kids was joint(follow to join) however she wasnt able to file immediately the i824 as soon as she got a greencard due to financial hardships. She is confused which is the best way to file the petition. Her kids are all minors..she is not married
  19. Hi Folks, I am a U.S. citizen and I petitioned (IR-5 visa) both my parents. Both my parents completed their medical exam at SLEC Manila a couple of years ago just right before COVID-19 and the lockdown in the Philippines. My mother passed her medical exam but my father did not because he tested positive for tuberculosis (TB). As a result he received a letter from the Embassy of the US in Manila. On the letter it says this: We never applied for a waiver. My father completed his tuberculosis (TB) treatment with a doctor in Angeles City, Pampanga (not in SLEC Manila). We decided not to do the treatment at SLEC Manila because at the time COVID-19 was at its peak. He now has his TB treatment report (as proof he no longer has TB) which he can provide the panel physician during his medical examination (still to be scheduled at SLEC Manila as of 7/24/2022). Here's where I am at with my parents: SLEC Manila Medical Exam - appointment to be scheduled for medical examination (no walk-ins available as of 7/24/22) Immigrant Visa Interview - appointment on 8/2/22 Here are my questions and I am really hoping to get some answers/opinions/suggestions: Did I the do right thing by not applying for a waiver but having my father complete his TB treatment instead? If so, can I schedule his medical examination at SLEC Manila and have him provide his TB treatment report to the panel physician, in preparation for his immigrant visa interview on 8/2/2022? Otherwise, what should have I done? Source regarding positive TB skin test (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-10-prepare-for-the-interview/medical-examination-faqs.html): Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
  20. Hi All, My mom will have her IR5 interview in Manila next month and I want to know if she will still need my original US marriage certificate? I have uploaded my birth cert, marriage cert, mom’s birth cert, dad’s death certificate in ceac website and they all show accepted but in the interview Im wondering if I need to send even my orig marriage certificate to the Philippines to bring to the interview. My mom has all the orig documents except my US Marriage Certificate. Also, I have uploaded affidavit of support docs w2, tax returns, etc. do they need it for the interview as well? I dont want my mom to know how much we are making here lol thanks in advance.
  21. What's everyone's opinion on bringing a desktop PC (and an Oculus quest 2) on check in for EVA airlines MNL>TPE(4.5hr layover)>SFO? My PC is too heavy for carry on so my only option is check in, I'd rather not leave it behind. What are the chances of theft? And how much does the airline reimburse for missing items if it does get stolen/lost? TIA.
  22. Hi guys! We had our Interview on the 19th and told by the consular that we were APPROVED, and on the day itself CEAC said, and still says, "ISSUED." I know it's only been two days, but we just received an email from Manila Embassy and I'm a little confused. Part of the email says, Dear Applicant, Kindly read the attached instructions carefully, and then inspect your passport and visa immediately upon receipt. Some applicants may receive a yellow visa packet – DO NOT OPEN THIS ENVELOPE which should be hand-carried and turned over to an immigration authority at the U.S. port of entry. Each applicant must register or update the preferred delivery/pick-up address at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/ph-iv-documentdelivery.asp. Additionally, a working contact number in the Philippines for notification of delivery must be included. ... The rest of the email has instructions about the fee, social security, etc. I do remember we registered at US Travel Docs, but only for the delivery address. Our Ir2 was added as a family member, so she doesn't have her own account. Does this mean I have to register again? It says "each applicant" so does this mean there has to be two separate accounts? We also still can't track our passports on US Travel Docs but it's only been two days, so it's understandable. But all of this is a good sign that our visas have truly been approved, right?
  23. Hi, all... Hoping for some factual information as I am running out of Time AND nails to chew on... 🙄 I just wanted to try to confirm with everyone here about aging out (Philippines)? Our (her) daughter is turning 21 in October 10-10-22. It seems like with the current wait times we're not going to make it without a Expedite. I have done 2 expedite requests but they were denied, with just a simple form letter saying we don't qualify. 1: What is the time frame rule for expediting due to age out for Philippines? 2: As far as my understanding goes, We need to have her here by say 10-09-22 at the latest? (Because her birthday is 10-10-22) 3: Or does she need to be here like.. 10-01-22 so we have some time to get married and dated stamp & send the adjusted status? Also I've looked on here for timelines and I know everybody wants to know the same thing so I wanted to post my time line, along with Expedites Also: 4: Does anybody know what time frame they're working on currently? For K1 K2 from Manila? We're about a Year & 2 months right now..... 5: Has anyone had any luck talking with a Senator or Congressman? If so what can they do, or what would I be asking them? I'm about to send a 3rd Expediting requests, it seems a lot of people got lucky on the 3 and 4th requests... Our time line so far... Manila & Oregon USA. Sent (all apps go to TX for distribution)...02-10-2021 Received in CA...........................................02-19-2021 I-797C Receipt............................................03-20-2021 Called to get NVC case number ...............04-06-2021 I-797....(aka USCIS approval)....................11-10-2021 NVC extension form letter ............. ..........01-23-2022 NVC Expedite request ............... ..............02-06-2022 NVC Expedite denial.................... ............ 02-09-2022 NVC 2nd extension form letter. .... ..........03-25-2022
