  1. Hello, I was married in Japan in 2012 while stationed there. My ex was Japanese. We were divorced in 2016 mutually at City Hall. I submitted my ex wife’s short form family register showing our marriage, divorce and her subsequent marriage in 2022 in my K1 package. I received an RFE this week requesting proof of legal termination of marriage. Has anyone had any issues with that form not being accepted? My only other thought is that a certificate of notification of divorce could be needed but the family register is the final document stamped by the mayor and official for divorce. Any thoughts and input is greatly appreciated!
  2. My wife's interview is around the corner and I have a few questions. CR-1 Tokyo Embassy 1. Do I need a physical letter from the Embassy about the interview appointment or do I print the email? I have 1 email from NVC for Interview appointment but haven't received any physical letter yet. 2. Do we need any documents for dual citizenship with different names? My wife was born in Japan but had dual citizenship because her mother is from a different country. My wife has different names in each country. Japan name is "Sakura, English" but used to be "Sakura, Toyota". In mothers country, her name is "Saraku, Himari". The embassy is asking for "Original Legal name change from Himari Saraku, to Toyota Sakura with English translation" we have her original Japanese family registry that shows she was born in Japan, and her name change from "Sakura, Toyota" to "Sakura, English". She never got a name change in her mothers country and never registered our marriage.
  3. Do we need a police statement for the second time green card? I am a Japanese. I had a conditional Green card (our marriage was within 2 years) 20+ years ago. I received my first green card but moved out of the USA soon after. So my Green card expired. We are trying to move back to the USA and apply for an immigrant visa again (through the same spouse). I-130 is approved and my case is already in NVC. I assumed I needed a police report again for the interview. But when I called a council, they told me the report may be able to be issued only one time for one country. Is that true?
  4. Hello Japan friends! I'm hoping to get a little information on what you all did in regards to the police report upload portion of the Civil Documents through CEAC. Obviously, I have to upload something or explain why I don't have one and will bring it to the interview sealed. Some sources say wait until the US Consulate tells you to get one before the interview. Some say get it during NVC and upload a scan of the sealed envelope with a note stating why it's sealed. Some say just say NOT AVALIABLE and explain that it will be brought to the interview. Some say they uploaded the sealed envelope and then were told that it wasn't necessary to upload via CEAC. Considering it takes 2 weeks to get one, I'd like to not sit around and wait if there's no reason to! This seems to be a uniquely Japanese problem so I'm hoping that we can pool a little bit of info here for myself and future applicants. Take care and thanks in advance!
  5. Hello, I'm a 22-year-old gay Mongolian international student living in Japan. I'm having LDR with a 37-year-old American guy. I'll be graduating from university in 1.5 years. So I'll be liberated. We hadn't seen each other in over 2 years. As a result, I'm concerned that form I-129F will fail because we haven't met in a long time because of Covid. We're more than just friends. We discussed marriage and other topics. What should we do if we decide to get married? Traveling is difficult for me because I have a Mongolian passport. Developed countries don't issue visas to a citizen of 3rd world countries easily. I'd like to hear from anyone who has had an international same-sex marriage. How did the procedure go? How much time did it take? Do we have the same rights/benefits as conventional hetero couples? Thank you very much.
  6. Currently about to petition in Tokyo, I have several questions for those who have the same experiences or knows the answer about filling I-130 form. I-130 questions : Employment History number 42. , currently Active duty Air Force, what address do you put for the U.S. Air Force as Employer ? And number 44. [Your Occupation] do we put the shop/squadron name? Or specific job title? Information about petitioner number 28,29, if parent is deceased, do we still put City and Country of Residence? I-130a Part 1 number 9b(last physical address outside the US) , when filling this petition I will still live in Japan address, which date do I put for [Date To]? Should it be the same as the date of the petition signed at least ? I-864 Part 6 number 8,9,10, as spoused I currently work outside the US (Japan) , do I put my income too(which will be added automatically in Part 6 number 20 ? If yes I just use current conversion rate to changed it to USD? Thank you in advanced!

    CENOMAR

Hi, Everyone. I am very anxious right now. I am scheduled for k1 visa interview this month. I am divorced in Japan and in the Philippines. However we all know how long it takes to process the papers in the Philippines. I got my Divorce Decree in Japan and I got my Divorce Finality and decision from the Philippines. I requested a CENOMAR yesterday and the marriage is still there and the divorce hasn't reflect to the CENOMAR yet. My question is. Is there anyone here from Japan who is a Filipino that had their K1 interview without having a CENOMAR? I have all the papers from my lawyer including the petition for divorce in the Philippines and its already registered at Local Civil Registrar and the hearing is done by Regional trial court. I am very stress right now I have been processing this paper for almost 3 years! I have spent more than $10,000 in this piece of paper and still nothing. I'm broken hearted right now. Please give me some hope!
