Hello, We just got our IR-1 visa approved on December 12th, 2023!! We are now waiting for the visa to arrive and plan on booking the flight ticket once it arrives. I was wondering when booking flight tickets if I need to book a one-way ticket for my spouse or if it is okay to book a round-trip ticket and then cancel the return flight upon arrival to the US? I am asking because the one-way tickets seem to be way more expensive (twice as much) than round-trip tickets. Has anyone else booked their flight to the US this way?

My husband was DQ’d in May, IL was sent in September. My husband already has photo album ready. However, someone told me I needed to upload the pictures onto ceac along with bringing the album. Before I upload anything i want to make sure uploading documents won't cause any delays with the interview

Im sorry if this is a long complicated post but I find myself in a bit of a situation. My wife and I have visited the US once before 2 years ago. She was on esta and I am a citizen. When filling out the esta 2 questions stood out. This is because my wife has an encounter with the police when she was still a juvenile. Long story short she was hanging out with friends and a classmates parent thought it was suspicious and that drugs were involved and she called the police. She was never arrested but had to visit the police station in the coming day and was questioned. She never admitted guilt and no marijuana was found. She got a letter stating the charges were dropped and that no action would be taken. He two questions that concern us now are: 1. Have you ever been arrested or convicted for a crime that resulted in serious damage to property, or serious harm to another person or government authority? To this we answered no because it seems like a minor crime and doesn’t fall under any of these categories. Additionally from our research possession convictions aren’t a CIMT. 2. Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using, or distributing illegal drugs? To this we also answered no because she never violated any law. We are now concerned because we would like to get an IR-1 visa and come live in the US. It seems like from the situation we described above she is not inadmissible because she was a juvenile, not convinced, no admission of guilt, and no evidence. However we are aware we must disclose this to the embassy when we apply for the visa. Our main concern is that we misinterpreted the ESTA questions that we answered on her previous visit. From looking online there are mixed opinions to when you must click yes to the first question. We are worried that we unintentionally misrepresented on her ESTA and because of this she will be permanently banned from the US if we apply for an IR-1 visa. Does anyone have any insight into this issue?

My wife (Chinese) is applying for an IR-1 visa, I'm sponsoring her. The I-130 was recently approved. I'm working on the I-864 and I have a few questions and things I'd like to confirm. 1. I live in China with her. When and how should I submit proof of domicile? 'Additional AOS Supporting Documentation' in CEAC? 2. Does the I-864 and/or supporting documents need to be notarized? The internet says no but I found a USCIS page that says yes. 3. My wife's mailing address should be in the States right? We used my mom's house for the I-130. 4. Do I have to use a US phone number on I-864? 5. My US income isn't enough (I work in China) so my mom is joint sponsoring. Her income is only from land sales and rent not a job, could this pose a problem? 6. In part 5 I should leave number 3 'spouse' as zero because she was already counted as the person I'm sponsoring right? That way the household is 2. For DS-260 1. Can there be gaps in the employment history? How long can a gap be? 2. Time periods covered by education don't have to be covered in employment history right? It would be a gap. Sorry if these have been answered previously.

Hello fellow travelers. This question is specifically aimed at K/CR/IR visa petitioners and beneficiaries in Türkiye. *How does the NVC, consulate Immigrant Visa Unit, etc communicates with all? Do they send paper mail or is everything done via email or text (like on B2 process)? I ask because (as you know) PTT does not leave mail in boxes and instead hands delivers. If we’re traveling out of the country, we would like to stay updated and not miss important correspondence.* Thank you for you input.

Hello All, We just recieved our interview dates for my wife and stepdaughter. The dates are scheduled about 2 months out and it's to be in Ciudad Juarez. Finding an acceptable vaccine (one that is acceptable by CDC and/or FDA) is proving to be more difficult than I imagined. It's not safe traveling around Mexico so I would rather not do it. Has anyone been able to use the waiver for their medical examination prior to the interview in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico? Can they provide a full series in the form of a single dose vaccine at the medical examination? My brother in law had to do a mix and match vaccine last year to re-enter on his B type visa, but even then the airline turned him away at first. I need this to be as smooth as possible. Thanks in advance.

Can I do this process on my own or do I need some type of assistance such as legal help? I will be the US citizen spouse. Getting married within a month. I'm retired and have plenty of time and there are no extenuating circumstances. The only possible issue is that I am temporarily overseas and going back and forth to the US from time to time. So the issue could be domicile. But I paid state and federal taxes, have voter registration, all bank accounts are in the US, have no foreign bank accounts, no foreign address (have been staying in Airbnb), etc. I think I can do the application from overseas where I will be staying with my spouse until the process is complete, minus a couple trips a year back to the US.

I am a U.S. citizen and looking into helping my parents migrate to the US. Long story short, my parents do not live in the States; however, they have a 10-year ban on entry into the US. They left in 2013, making it exactly ten years this year (They left the US voluntarily). For me to petition them and give them a Green Card, can I apply for an I-130, or do I need to do something else before?

My wife had her medical examination at the IMC Almaty office on Mukanova street today for her IR-1 visa. Two things that are noteworthy that we wanted to post here for anyone about to do the same. 1) She had to receive 2 vaccinations and was charged 25,000 Tenge total for them. She paid 95,000 Tenge (70,000 for the exam and x-ray + 25,000 for the 2 vaccines). She was not offered the COVID-19 vaccine, does not have it, and is not required to as Russian vaccines are not CDC or WHO approved. 2) She was told that "family reunification visas" are not given envelopes with documents anymore and that they are now done electronically. I told her that that is not what all the paperwork we have received from the IMC and consulate has said. She actually went back to IMC and told them that she is getting an IR-1 visa and that we were told she would receive a sealed envelope to take to the consulate. They told her that it is no longer done like that and it is all electronic now. Has anyone else experienced this? I am concerned that we may have problems at the consulate but there is nothing we can do as my wife already returned to IMC to clarify the situation.

Hello, I had submitted my I-130 for my wife who is overseas in Pakistan and I am from the US and I am a US Citizen. I had submitted the case last year with an official receipt date of June 21, 2021. And the only update i got after that was on October 21 2021 that my case was being actively reviewed, and nothing since, it has now been over a year since the case was received, so I am just curious. The case is at the Potomac service center, and I have seen people who had sent their case after mine getting approvals from the same center and so i'm just trying to see if this is normal, i can't submit an inquiry until October but i just wanted to get some insight, should i be doing anything right now or just wait it out?

Hello, I was wondering if Direct Consular Filing is available in Morocco? I am a US citizen, newly wedded with my Moroccan husband residing in Casablanca, currently undergoing the process of obtaining carte sejour. I intend to live in Morocco with my husband until a green card is issued. How do I go about the process for filing a DCF? How do I go about filing petitions outside of the US? Thank you for your time, Salima
