Hello everyone, My dad had his IR5 interview in Montreal, Canada Apr 4, 2023. Was verbally approved by the officer and was told to expect passport back with visa in about 2 weeks. They kept his passport and just police certificate. There was a holiday in between, but have not received anything yet. Visa status still says Ready, as of Apr 11. How long does it typically take to get the visa stamped?

Hello everyone! I arrived in the US one week ago. (IR1) We are waiting for my permanent resident card and SSN to arrive in the mail (the fee was paid 16 days before my arrival) I heard that it can take up to 90 days to be mailed to me, and I didn’t want to wait that long to start working. Our question is: as the now stamped immigrant visa is valid as a proof of permanent residency for one year after arrival, can I go in person to a SS office and be able to get my SSN earlier by showing them my passport? Or do I need to wait for my physical GC to arrive? I appreciate your help! Thank you!

I am a US/Hungarian citizen and I got married in Russia and started immigrant visas for my family which are now all documentarily qualified. Their cases were first were in Moscow and then they all got moved to Warsaw in December. Due to a couple factors we needed to leave Russia and got an immigrant visa to Hungary and moved to Hungary. We just got out of in the nick of time in February. Originally, we expected to spend only a few months in Hungary while the US visas would be ready. However, with the war in Ukraine, the process seemed to have stopped because the Embassies are prioritizing Ukrainian cases. So we decided that we settle in for a longer time in Hungary. Because of that I wanted to get their cases moved to Budapest. I have been trying to get this done for a few months now, but I can't seem to get an answer to a very simple question: what is needed exactly to get this transfer done. I keep ending up talking with not Embassy personnel but some guys from US Tracvel Docs who does not know the answers and act as only intermediaries - bad ones at that. I sent all information about our living in Hungary to them but I have no idea what they presented to the Embassy because I keep getting rejections based on not being residents. Also every single question and answer takes weeks and at the end I'm no wiser. So it's pretty frustrating. I'd like to cut through the ####### and ask somebody directly at the Embassy: "What do you need to get the transfer approved?". Does anybody have any suggestion how to get this done?
