  1. Not sure if this is the right forum for this question. Asking for my friend, he is within the 90 day window to apply to get the conditions removed from his green card. He came here on a spouse visa and got a conditional green card. They are in the process of getting a divorce, but the divorce papers won’t be finalized by the time he needs to submit his papers to uscis. Does he have to apply jointly with his wife? Or can he still file separately even though he doesn’t have divorce proof yet?
  2. Thought I'd share this in case others are similarly looking for an answer about renewing a driver's license in North Carolina after receiving a conditional green card. We were expecting the renewed license to expire on the same date as the conditional green card, but the DMV officer indicated it would be a full, 8-year license (and charged the full $44 for a full term license). While digging around for an explanation, I stumbled across this article. It looks like NC DOT changed its policy ~2 months ago. Glad we didn't renew the license a couple months ago!
  3. Conditional green card expired 18 months ago and we applied I 751 more than 20 months ago . Now my license expired and law enforcement agencies are not able to clarify anything on it . They just gave me SAVE case number 2 times . But still waiting. Someone advise me to request with senators to get details on it . Also trying to get appointments with usics but they denied that . so can anyone advise what will be the next step to get status on that I-751 and get the license
  4. Hi everyone, 2 years have passed since I received the GC. Few weeks ago I received the notice from both our lawyer and the USCIS to file for I-751. This time, I would like to avoid having our lawyer supporting us in the process, simply because her rate is very high and for the Conditional GC, it cost us a lot of money. My husband and I do not have any red flag or any other potential issue to be aware of. Would you recommend to file on our own? How easy/hard is to file for the I-751? Is it common to make any mistake in the process? I'd appreciate any recommendation and experience. Thank you!
  5. I am a Conditional Green Card holder and my Green Card was expired 3 years ago. I am divorced and I never filed I-751. I spent a year in U.S. I am living my home country but now want to return back U.S. My stay outside was due to abusive marriage and health problems. I didn't know U.S. immigration laws until now. What are my options?
  6. Hello everyone, I am an Indian citizen who recently got married and got my marriage-based conditional greencard. I have a long first name (with space) and a long last name which causes problems when my employer runs an everify check. It's really embarrasing to repeat myself twice whenever someone asks for my name. Hence, I have decided to change my name through the county court. Here are a few questions regarding name change after GC: 1) Will the i90 extension letter have my new legal name? 2) If yes, can I use the extension letter along with the court docs to change my name on my SSN and DL? Will it verify through SAVE? 3) Also, will this cause any issues during removal of conditions? Please let me know! Thanks!
  7. Hi everyone, I would like to travel abroad 2 months before my Conditional green card expires (marriage based). I will file for removal of conditions on my GC a month before the travel date. My question is can I travel while my removal of conditions is pending ? Or do I have to wait for the USCIS to send me anything before I can go ? (When I get back my Conditional GC will still be unexpired) Thanks for your help !
  8. Hello everyone ! I have my conditional (2 years) Green Card (through marriage) and I am planning to travel abroad in few months. Do I need to apply to any travel document or is my Conditional green card alone enough ? Thank you for your help !
  9. Hello everyone, I have 2 year conditional green card that expires in October 2022. I am planning to visit my family back in India for three weeks in October 2021. Can I enter back in US with my conditional green card or do I need to inform USCIS before traveling and get some sort of travel permit? Is there anything that I need to do in terms of documentation for this travel? I hold an Indian passport. Thank you.
  10. Going through a divorce right now but still under my conditional green card which is expiring Nov 2022. What steps should I be taking in terms of the GC?
  11. Hi all, I'm not sure if this is a correct forum to ask but I have a question for my wife that had been approved as a conditional permanent resident. We did the civil ceremony for the wedding on August~September on 2019 and applied for the green card and my wife got her conditional green card a couple of months ago. We are now planning on doing the actual wedding in our home country, which is South Korea, this coming winter. People are not advising us to go out of the country until the condition has been removed just to be safe for more than a couple of months while my wife is planning on staying there for at least 3 months. Is this not a safe thing to do while you have a conditional green card?
  12. Hello everyone, My husbands interview is finally scheduled and we are getting our evidence together. I am a little bit worried that we don’t have enough. We are both young (22) and I am a student. We are currently living with my parents until I am done with school and have a decent paying job, which should be around January. That being said, we don’t have a joint lease. I am still on my parents health and car insurance until I move out, and my husband is not on those. He doesn’t have a license yet anyway and it was too late to add him onto the health insurance. So far the only thing we have is a joint bank account and I added him onto my phone plan. Is this going to be ok? I was planning on getting affidavits that say that he does live with me and my parents. I’m not really sure what else I can get that is proof. I also filed my taxes as married: filing separately since he did not work, so i’m not sure if I can even use my tax records as evidence?
  13. Hi everyone ! I recently got my conditional Green card, I already have my SSN card (the one that says only valide with a work authorization). My question is do I have to apply for a new SSN card or there is no need and I can continue using this one ? Thanks for your help !
