Hey Everyone! Im currently in the final stages of applying for my CR-1 visa. My medical is scheduled this month and my embassy interview is next month. During this time I have been contemplating about what I would like to do "career wise" once I get back to my wife. Having worked in the tech industry for most of my life here in the UK I am looking to enter the realm of Software Development. My knowledge is somewhat limited and I would like to re-train in this field once I arrive. One potential option is to attend a bootcamp/course at the local College. As a CR-1 holder will this potentially limit my chances of being able to enrol in a college course until my conditions are removed? I was wondering if anyone has any similar experiences in attending school/college as a fresh-faced immigrant?

Hi, does anyone know if we are able to take university or college classes once we enter the USA with the k1 visa? I know we can’t work until we get work authorization, so I thought it would be the perfect time to upgrade with some classes in the meantime.

So far this is my checklist to do as soon as I enter the US: Social security Get debit card Get credit card Driver license Selective Service system registration Take toefl exam to enter college Roth IRA and other retirement accounts In terms of college, I’ll be transferring to a in state school to major in Accounting and Information systems. Apart from doing this checklist, what other things you guys think I need to get done to have a successful citizenship journey and what is your advice for me. Hope you guys have an amazing day! Peter

I am about to start Community college and I was considering applying for the Dream Act, which is not part of FASFA. But I am wondering if the Dream Act would affect my Adjustment of Status (have not sent yet), in other words, would receiving money for educational use through the DREAM Act be considered a public charge and thus deny me my green card? Many thanks, Sara
