My wife was recently Documentarily Qualified from the NVC for an IR-1 visa. I don't know how reliable any of the previous info on interview wait times is, given Covid, China's zero Covid policy, shutdowns, etc. Does anyone know how what the wait times are for Guangzhou? 2 months? 3 months? More? My estimates are mostly just guesses. And also, when will we be notified of that date? Is there anywhere to find that out or other resources online for this? I've emailed the GZ consulate, waiting to hear back form them. Thanks in advance! -
We received approval of our documentation on March 14 from the NVC. How long might it be before we get notice of the interview in Guangzhou, China? And when you get the notice of the interview, how long is it typically before the actual appointment. I would assume at least a month. It is my understanding that they arbitrarily assign an appointment time to you. Is that true? Thanks in advance for your input.

For the IR-1 medical exam in China is the full course of the covid vaccine required or just one dose? The Guangzhou consulate page says the full course is required, in which case we'll do it ourselves in advance. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/GUZ-Guangzhou.html#med_exam_instructions The civil surgeon's instructions say the full course is not required and just one dose administered along with the rest of them during the medical exam is fine. https://www.cdc.gov/immigrantrefugeehealth/civil-surgeons/vaccinations.html#covid-19-vaccination I'm guessing they just didn't update the Guangzhou consulate's page. Can anyone confirm the most up-to-date requirements? I also wanted to ask if anyone knows which covid vaccine(s) the medical examiner in Shanghai will/could give? Thanks in advance.

My wife (Chinese) is applying for an IR-1 visa, I'm sponsoring her. The I-130 was recently approved. I'm working on the I-864 and I have a few questions and things I'd like to confirm. 1. I live in China with her. When and how should I submit proof of domicile? 'Additional AOS Supporting Documentation' in CEAC? 2. Does the I-864 and/or supporting documents need to be notarized? The internet says no but I found a USCIS page that says yes. 3. My wife's mailing address should be in the States right? We used my mom's house for the I-130. 4. Do I have to use a US phone number on I-864? 5. My US income isn't enough (I work in China) so my mom is joint sponsoring. Her income is only from land sales and rent not a job, could this pose a problem? 6. In part 5 I should leave number 3 'spouse' as zero because she was already counted as the person I'm sponsoring right? That way the household is 2. For DS-260 1. Can there be gaps in the employment history? How long can a gap be? 2. Time periods covered by education don't have to be covered in employment history right? It would be a gap. Sorry if these have been answered previously.

Hello all, I live in Buffalo, NY and my wife is a Chinese citizen residing in Toronto. Her whole family lives back in China. We are planning to visit in fall or winter 2023. We married just 1.5 weeks ago. I was originally planning on applying for a L tourist visa a few months ago but never submitted the application. Now that we are married, I am wondering should I apply for a Q visa instead? Is one any easier than the other in terms of obtaining? I was hoping to get a 10-year visa if possible since I will likely be making several trips over there in the upcoming years and would rather not have to re-apply every time. Thanks kindly in advance.

Hello, I am the petitioner for my fiance k1 visa and we have an Interview appointment at the Guangzhou Embassy in August. We submitted the Ds-160 a month ago. Due to unfortunate situation I've had to change my permanent address. I've moved to a new house in the same town. My affidavit of support will contain my new address. The DS-160 has my old address. Do I need to update the DS-160, submit, print the confirmation and send again? -Matt

Hello, my husband and I applied for CR1 visa in February 24, 2022, we are currently still waiting. Before all this, I used to be a student in China but ever since Covid hit I managed to go back to my country. Now my University is demanding that I go back to finish my degree ( for around 6 months max ). I was wondering, if me going back to China would delay or cause any issues in the future. Because of the special relationship both countries have, I find myself in a rather risky situation. Anybody has any idea what to do? P.s: my husband is in the US army Thank you

My wife (Chinese) and I (US Citizen) are planning to apply for an IR-1/CR-1 soon. We're going to go back to her home town to collect the notarial birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police certificate. My wife saw somewhere that an ARCO police certificate specifically is required, but the USCIS website just says 'police certificate' and mentions going to the PSB, then the Gong Zheng Chu. Does anyone know what ARCO is or what specific police certificate we need? Thanks in advance -
Hi everyone, My wife had her visa interview on March 28th and the visa was issued on March 31st in Guangzhou. However, we still haven't received the passport and immigration packet in the mail. We registered for Premium delivery service through EMS for home delivery to Shanghai. All mail has been suspended to be delivered to homes in Shanghai due to the extreme lockdown measures. My question is about the process. After the consulate issues and prints the visa, do they hand it over to the courier? To CITIC Bank and then to the courier (EMS)? I received a airway bill in my first two email notifications and the last two, the airway bill tracking number was then removed. I guess that means it is still at the consulate in Guangzhou? Is there anyone else who has their passport from Guangzhou or has their passport stuck in Guangzhou (or stuck in transit)?
