Our Story

  1. Montreal embassy EB-2 interview wait time-Part 2 Continuation of this thread:
  2. I was a regular reader of the last London thread to keep myself updated with current timelines etc before it went to 70+ pages and way off topic. I thought it was such a useful resource so I’ve decided to start the ball rolling again so we can keep each other updated on news as it comes in. To kick us off, me and my wife were DQ 10th July so we’re hoping to get our interview appointment email early November. It appears June DQ dates have been scheduled so hoping this is our time after literally years of waiting. Fingers crossed for no Tier 3 lockdown in London!
  3. Hello All I thought I would make a Thread for Australian's who have their CASE COMPLETE at NVC and are waiting for an Interview to be scheduled at the US Consulate in Sydney! It might make it easy for us to keep in touch and update each other! I hope this is OK 🐨 We were DQ'd this morning so we will be waiting a while lol
  4. Hello everyone, Asking for someone who is a permanent resident. They filed I-130 for their unmarried son under 21 year old back in August 2023. Their I-130 was approved today. Priority date on the NOA shows the date they filed in August. Their son was 18 back then, now 19. What happens next? What category does the son fall into? Is it F2A? They are from Lebanon. What is a realistic time frame and is there a way to make things go faster since both parents are here and the child is there alone. Is there a risk of their son aging out of 21 or does CSPA applies here? Thank you

  6. Hey! I am a little confused about the timeline after having an I129F approved. What we should do next? Are we going to receive a letter from NVC? Or is it gonna be an email? How long should we wait for? It's been a month since we got approved. Should we write an email about the case? Or how can we get some information about it from NVC? Thanks for the help.
  7. Hey, my fiancée (the petitioner) received an email in the 12th February with a case number for NVC. However I have not yet received any further correspondence from NVC yet. At the end of the emailed letter it says they will contact me when they are ready to process our petition. I know someone who is on around the same timeline as me just a couple weeks before me, and is with the same embassy (London) and they said they received their physical welcome letter the other week and that when you go to book the interview it asks that you have received this letter. I am going to enquire next week if it does not arrive still, but is anyone else going through this? Not sure if it's just with the London embassy. Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
  8. We received our NOA 2 (K-1 Visa, Philippines) about 3 weeks ago and our wondering if and when we will receive a welcome letter from the NVC. Can anyone share their recent experience of how and when the NVC will notify us and give us a case number? Will we receive an email, letter, or both? Should we be notified when the NVC first receives our case or once it has been sent to the embassy?
  9. Does all mail that comes from the USCIS and embassy go to the petitioner? Besides the visa, what other mail will come to the beneficiary? Beneficiary has had a change of address and now uses a P.O box.
  10. Hello there, I am a US citizen and I recently applied for my father's immigration in February 2023. My father is currently in Pakistan and USCIS approved the petition in January 2024. Yesterday, I received an update from NVC that they have created his case. I have a question regarding the I-864 form. I am currently unemployed and dependent on my wife. We both file tax returns jointly and I want to know who to include in the "3 most recent tax" (24.a)section of I-864, which requires the annual gross income. Should I put zeros in this section since I'm unemployed, or should I include my wife's annual gross income since we file tax returns jointly? Additionally, I discovered that I have to submit the I-864A along with my I-864 form because I'm using my wife as a household member's income to sponsor my father. Can you confirm whether this is correct or not? Thank you.
  11. Hello Everyone I have a Question and update on my Father's petition. Last year on February 2023 I filed an I-130 for my father and after a year USCIS approved my petition in January 2024. Today NVC sent me an email update that they have created his case and I have to pay the online fees of AOS and IV. I want to pay the fee through my personal checking account however I am confused with the phrase "Business Name". What I should put here my bank name or something else? Please help me. Thanks!!
  12. Hello there, I am a US citizen and I recently applied for my father's immigration in February 2023. My father is currently in Pakistan and USCIS approved the petition in January 2024. Yesterday, I received an update from NVC that they have created his case. I have a question regarding the I-864 form. I am currently unemployed and dependent on my husband. We both file tax returns jointly and I want to know who to include in the "3 most recent tax details" section of I-864, which requires the annual gross income. Should I put zeros in this section since I'm unemployed, or should I include my husband's annual gross income since we file tax returns jointly? Additionally, I discovered that I have to submit the I-864A along with my I-864 form because I'm using my husband's or household member's income to sponsor my father. Can you confirm whether this is correct or not? Thank you.
  13. I have a quick question regarding the DS160 form. From the day the form becomes available for me to file how long can I wait before submitting it? I know it's valid for 30 days to submit after starting it. But I want to know how long I can wait before starting it? Would it be possible for me to delay starting it for a month or two?

  15. I (US citizen) applied for an IR1 visa for my wife (non US citizen). She got documentarily qualified over three months ago by NVC. The email said they would work with the US consulate in Lagos to schedule an interview and they would let us know. We still haven't heard anything since then. I've been reading some stuff about a huge backlog at the US consulate in Lagos regarding interviews. I'm considering applying for our case to be rescheduled l expedited. Our kids are US citizens but they are with her. They cannot be here with me in the US as there will be no one to take care of them while I work. My wife is also unable to work in Nigeria as she is by herself and there is no one to look after the kids if she goes to work. Can I apply for an expedited interview on this basis because honestly, we need to be together as a family. I hate being away from my wife and kids and vice versa. I would also like our kids to start preschool here soon and that's impossible without my wife being here. I appreciate your advice.
  16. Hello. I am a Canadian green card holder and my wife is a Canadian applying for her GC through me. She went through the I-130 process, staying in Canada during the application. We have received the DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED status from NVC and the next steps are apparently to wait to schedule an interview with the Montreal Consulate. This was the email update we received in February: Has anyone reached this stage recently as a Canadian and seen any movement of their case? How long did it take? Our lawyer estimated 3-6 months, but obviously it has been a bit longer. Just seeing if others have a similar situation or if our documents have fallen off someone's desk. Thank you all!
  17. Need Advise on Ceac status. My spouse had her interview last week on Tuesday. interview was ok , but the CO didnt find a lot of the documents that were uploaded at NVC stage. at the end wife was given a 221(g) which instructed to upload irrelevant documents like CV, etc all documents were uploaded with in an hour of the interview, later in the day london embassay emailed asking for the documents which were also then sent via email. then on Friday the CEAC status changed to "Refused" , I was under the impression that it will change to Admin Processing? what does refused mean? I saw a similar review for london embassy :https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=31055 that person also indicated that CEAC status change to refused and then Admin processing ...... any insight on this would be welcome.
  18. Hello, When my case (which is not a K visa) is DQ'd at NVC, and still waiting for the interview letter, if I were to request a change of the CO to another that has a much shorter waittime, then assuming the request is approved: 1) would my interview be still scheduled according to my original DQ time, or is my DQ time reset? 2) Would my place in the queue for the interview at the new CO be as if I had chosen that CO from the beginning? 3) Also, since the case is still at NVC, this transfer should happen rather quickly, right? like a few days after approval? (It's just a case number being changed?) Sorry if these are easy questions but I couldn't find their answer on the NVC website. It makes sense to me that the DQ date shouldn't be reset, so that I can benefit from the shorter waittime, but I wanna make sure. Thanks a lot!
  19. Dear Forum Members, I recently received approval for two separate I-130 applications for both of my parents and am now in the process of filing 2 separate I-864 form for their IR5 visa application. However, I'm encountering confusion with certain sections and would greatly appreciate your guidance. 1. Part 2: a.) For the mailing address of the principal applicant, should I provide the US mailing address where they will be staying or their current home country (India) mailing address where my parents currently reside? b.) Column 7: Should I input my phone number or my parents' phone number? 2. Part 3: Should I select option 1 or option 2? If I choose option 2, do I need to enter the names of both family members? 3. Part 6: This section is particularly confusing. I am married and live with my wife. Although I have sufficient income alone to sponsor my parents, but I file taxes jointly with my wife. a.) When filling in column 7 of Part 6 for income, should I input my income only? b.) In column 20, should I mention the total household income, which includes my wife's income as well? Should I also file I-864A along with I-864 since we file taxes jointly? I understand these are quite detailed inquiries, but any assistance or advice would be immensely helpful. Thank you all in advance for your support.
  20. Anyone have information on importing your car? Can you just drive it across the border when you activate the green card or is there a lot of prep work to do ahead of time? TIA
  21. Hello everyone. I have a question and I'd like to ask for your opinions. Does having a traffic ticket in the US make any negative effect on my visa interview? Is it a problem? I have two traffic tickets (for speeding etc.) from 2010 and 2015. I would feel bad if they negatively influence my visa interview in any way. Does anyone have similar experience or knowledge on this? Thanks in advance.
  22. First of all, this is the only section we have to finish. We have consulted a lawyer, unfortunately this lawyer did not help us at all with this doubt we have. And hopefully we'll find some answers here. So let's get started: ON the Form DS-260 asks us about work history over the past 10 years. My husband has worked in the construction field for these ten years and has had a variety of projects. Some projects were owned by private companies and others by large companies that he remembers. The question we have is: How do you refer to the number and address of a company that no longer exists (or that you no longer remember) on the DS-260 application? I hope this makes some sense to you. We are at this point very desperate. and we have no other option since lawyers are very expensive.
  23. Hello, my wife had an interview at islamabad embassy pakistan on 6 nov 2023, and they told her to submit the documents for joint sponsor online, and submit the passport via courier service, which we already did, I noticed that her case status is still refused but case update date is changed few times, can someone tell me, what is happening case status is still same but case update date changed few times , and other thing is I dont know why they gave her 221g and marked joint sponsor document, i made around 42k last year and in 2021 and 2020 my income is around 48k and 37k and i dont claim anyone and no dependent on me. Even he checked my tax returns and transcripts But he still told her to add joint sponsor. My wife told him that he’s claiming no one. I live in joint family he count everyone on my income even tho my household size is 1 and 2nd my wife . If someone can answer about changing in dates but status is still same please leave your comments thanks.
  24. Hi My father who's 58 years old, got married about 3 years ago to a woman in Pakistan. She currently is at NVC stage waiting to get Documantirily Qulified. Once that is done it looks like US embassy is very backlogged in Pakistan and it can be up to 2 years before getting interviewed. Now only issue is my father is 58 and also diabetic and lives alone at his residence, I'm locked in my apartment lease and can't move with him because of that. Looking at his age and health condition would there be a way we can expedite the interview if so where do I reach and how long would it take. Thank you. ( I know 58 doesn't sound that old in US but, coming from a Pakistani family and seeing so many of my relatives barely making to 60s feels scary )
  25. I recently moved next door from my parents house, and my address changed one number. I have no problem with my mail coming next door, since our mailboxes are together. Daily I receive photo emails from USPS of what is coming in the mail per day. So I'm not worried about not receiving anything from them. My question is, is it necessary for me to update it with USCIS right now while it's at the NVC? Will it prolong the process Or will it cause a denial if it's not updated? I do plan to update it once we file for the AOS, but prefer to wait until after the K1 interview, POE, & marriage.
