  1. Hey, I had my interview last week, and ISO asked how much did I make in 2022. I replied $25,000. And I made all that money working under the table, so my employer never reported anything to the IRS and I never got a W-2 either. So, I unknowingly did not file any tax on it. Thus only reported income on the IRS was from my USC spouse, and my tax transcript only had that income which was lower than $25,000, ISO said so you did not report it to the IRS, and I said "Yes". Now I think that this falls into tax evasion and could be considered a crime involving moral turpitude. So, how do I avoid getting denied based on CIMT? Should I amend my tax return and pay taxes on that? if so, How do report that income as I don't have a w2 or any proof other than a cash deposit at the Bank? Please help me out am panicking. Thanks
  2. Hello, My IR5 filing is on NVC stage. I just got an RFE. NVC is requiring for my w2/1099 for 2022. I don’t have any of those since I did not work for the whole year. i have my husband and sister-in-law to sponsor and i have submitted both tax transcript and w2s for them. All accepted. what should i submit? Do i download and submit wage and income transcript from IRS showing $0? Would that even be the right document for their request? HELP!!!!
  3. I'm just trying to learn a thing about this FBAR as a potential LPR and maybe a U.S citizen in the future. If an individual had an equivalent of $10,000 in their foreign account before becoming an LPR or a citizen, will they have to file the FBAR when they become an LPR/USC or the FBAR has to do with income earned within the time of becoming an LPR/USC? My second: Let's say A becomes a USC, but sends some money occasionally into the foreign account and the account accrues to the $10k limit, will they have to report such account to IRS, even though it's just a saving put in there and not an active income from an occupation. Thanks
  4. I am a US/UK dual national, and I have worked in the UK for my entire adult life. I am filling out the I-864. I was offered a job in the US which is why I am moving myself and my spouse and filing under exceptional circumstances, so I do not have a history of working in the US and have never had to file taxes in the US. I have ticked the box on the I-864 that says: "I was not required to file a federal income tax return as my income was below the IRS required level and I have attached evidence to support this." As I have never filed taxes in the US, I don't have evidence to support this. What do I do in this situation? Do I provide my tax returns from the UK? I make over the minimum required amount on the poverty guidelines to support my household, but am still filing with an extra sponsor for safety. Our additional sponsor does have a tax return history - could this help?
  5. Hello, I'm eligible to apply for my N400 and I qualify for the 5 year Green card category. I understand that I need to have last 5 years worth of Tax return transcripts. I recently got married and my wife is Non resident alien i.e she lives outside the united stated and she is going through immigration process. Last year I.e 2021, I filed a the return return through paper filing instead of e-filing and the tax return was accepted by IRS. I have a copy of the paper returns from turbo tax which I used to prepare. Unfortunately, When I try to access the transcript for 2021 on IRS.gov, It says it does not have any record for 2021. But when I checked the IRS's "where is my refund?" tool, I can see that the "return was received" by IRS. My question is if I cannot get the tax return in time, Can I take the returns from turbo tax instead and my W2s? I can also show that I send in the check that I owed extra which IRS cashed in. is there anything I can request from IRS that helps? also do I need to submit the tax return when I submit the N400 application or can I just carry it for the interview. Thanks for your answers.
  6. Hello! So i have my interview soon. I’ve updated the I-865 and the new transcripts. My question is if the joint sponsor and the household member are married and they file taxes together, is the tax transcript enough or w2 and return is needed? my U.S. embassy in my country says most recent transcript OR W2+ tax return. but I want to make sure
  7. Hello, everyone! I have my citizenship interview next week. I am filing under the 5 year rule. I just learned that I may be not ready for the interview. I would like to seek help on what to do. I have all my expired and new passports, I have my green card, my 1st and marriage certificates and 1st marriage divorce papers. I have 2019, 2020 and 2021 tax transcripts. I did not work the whole of 2018 and 2019 and filed nothing with IRS. My thinking is that since I did not file anything on these years, I have no papers to show the immigration officer for these years and I would have to explain that I did not work. However, just today, I learned that there is such a thing with IRS called transcript of non-filing, However, it will take 5-10 days to get this paper. Today is Wednesday and my interview is Thursday next week. Should I reschedule my interview?
