Our Story

  1. I had my N400 interview yesterday at the Dallas service center. The officer mentioned he did not have my removal of condition file but we proceeded with the N400. After successfully passing the N400, he handed me a form marked decision cannot be made now and explained it was because he had to approve the I-751 but he assured he was going to approve both. Both status are still the same, is it normal? Thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I figured there might be some people who are also in the process of putting their package together already ahead of the holidays. Hopefully it’ll be smooth sailing for all of us. Please share any timelines, thoughts, prayers… as we navigate this extremely joyous process. 😅 ————— Our 90 day window opens 01/19/2024 and plan is to have everything ready to go before this weekend, so we will only need to add latest bills/statements in January and print out some pictures pretty much. We are planning on mailing the whole thing out the very day the window opens. We'll be moving states at the end of February so I'm kinda anxious about receiving all the important letters from USCIS in those 6 weeks ahead of us leaving here. 🙃 Out of curiosity, is there anyone who’s travelled somewhat extensively in the last two years? How have you organised (or are planning on organising) evidence in relation to this - i. e. boarding passes, hotel resis, booking confirmations etc. pp. We have 17 trips we took together since getting married so really it is quite a lot. Still going back and forth on this as we’re not trying to overwhelm USCIS with potentially unnecessary information. Looking forward to getting this out of the way though honestly. It’s going to be a busy few months for us in between USCIS stuff, a last little on-island holiday, shipping all our belongings and cars, some extended hotel stays and a 15hr journey with a very hyper kitten.
  3. Hi all, I filed my i-751 a year ago and I'm preparing to apply for citizenship. We just found out that my attorney made a mistake on my I-751 form and had me as unemployed despite me being employed. Did anyone have a similar situation and how did you fix it ?
  4. @Mike E mentioned that it's best to use the Employer address on the W-2. I'm also a remote worker and my working location is my home address. On the W-2, my company uses a PO box, but on the Form 1095-C, they use the street address of my company. Can I use the street address instead?
  5. Hi, I am eligible to file for citizenship under the 3 year rule with a pending 1-751 (since August 2022) and I wanted to check with others if my evidence list would be sufficient or if there would be anything else I should include in N400 application. I have recently filed 1040X with IRS to amend my status on the past 2 tax returns and I scanned a copy of the signed 1040X’s so I can include that in the evidence also. I was advised it could potentially take up to 20 weeks for IRS to complete amendments, so I was hoping I can send the proof of amendment in my application. Current list of evidence: -Marriage certificate -Copy of front and back of green card -Husband’s birth certificate -2022 tax transcript -Tax returns and 1040X amended forms for both 2021 and 2020 -Lease agreements for past 3 years -Renters insurance -Health insurance (for me and my husband through employer) -PDF document comprised of photos of us over the past 3 years, including with friends and family (with dates and locations) I have bank statements, internet bills, phone bills and utility statements that I can send if extra evidence is recommended, although I have them printed so I can bring them to the interview. Lastly, I worked remotely for most of the past 3 years and I was confused on the application question that requires the location we worked at for each employer. From my understanding, would it be best to include the employer address listed on my W2’s and specify in my job role that I was a remote worker?
  6. Hi everyone, I have a pending i751 application and I'm planning to go on a trip to South Korea in few months. Did anyone travel to South Korea with an expired green card and the extension letter ? Are they familiar with it ? Did anyone have any issues ?
  7. Thought this would be an interesting datapoint. I was just listening to Jim Hacking's Immigration Show on YouTube. Somebody reported getting a 10 year GC AFTER naturalizing and having naturalization certificate in hand. Episode 357. All because of pending I-751 at the moment of N-400 interview. Lawyer suggested keeping the card in safe place just in case. What would you do in this case?
  8. Hey everyone, My ROC application is still pending and I have the 24 months extension letter, how can I get the new 48 months extension letter? Can we apply for it or do they send it automatically?
  9. Hello everyone, I wanted to start this feed for DFW I-751 filers. Let's share our timeline and stay in touch for this process!
  10. Hey Guys! Can we use this thread to track our progress from Potomac January/ February fillers I submitted my ROC feb 2,2021 April 29,2021 fingerprints were re-used since then nothing
  11. Hi, my spouse and I had our immigration interview 2 years ago when I did AOS here in the USA, we both attended the interview and GC was approved on the spot. I have sent my ROC already and I've read that an interview is required, again?
  12. Hello All I have a question when filing out the form I-751 in page 2, additional information about you item 20. I have been deported and waived. is this something that will count as deteined? I am not sure if I should say YES or not here. I was deported and I had to process waiver which were approved. I was never in Jail or anything but I am not sure if this counts like any of the specified in the question? any suggestions will be very appreacited.
  13. Hello Fellow Journey Folks, I just wanted to start a new thread on Pending I-751 Transferred to NBC After Passing N-400 Interview, so other people in the same situation can find this resource specific to a "pending I-751 but was interviewed for N-400 and passed the N-400 interview", and issued a Form-N-652 with check marks on: a.) "you passed the English test and the US history and government test...." b.) "congratulations, your application has been recommended for approval..." Please share your experience about: 1. Were you required to appear again for an interview at your local USCIS office to adjudicate the ROC? 2. How long did it take for NBC to come back to you from the time of notice that your I-751 was transferred to NBC? 3. If NBC waived an ROC interview, how long did it take them to return to you for the pending I-751 approval? 4. If NBC waived an ROC interview, how long did it take them to send you an oath taking ceremony? Timeline/Info: July 2021 - Filed I-751 by mail, paper application July 2022 - Filed N-400 Online November 2022 - N-400 Interview December 2022 - I-751 NOA File transferred to NBC "in order to speed up processing", case receipt number unchanged from previous processing center Nebraska Local Office: Tukwila, WA Would appreciate your input. Cheers 😊
  14. Hello, I need to travel abroad while the removal of conditions on my conditional green card is pending (through marriage). Is traveling with my expired green card + Extension letter enough or do I have to get the i551 stamp ? Thanks for your help
  15. Hey everyone. I had put up another post and I am so thankful everyone in this community is so helpful! I would like to share an edited version of Cover Letter we have and the evidence, to get some opinions, as we have been so stressed about making sure we have enough evidence before we send. It needs to be sent by 6th September but I want to get it sent asap, this week if possible. "Dear USCIS Officer: I am filing a joint Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, with my spouse. My wife entered the United States on a CR1 visa on September 6th 2020. We respectfully request that this petition be accepted for removal of conditions on residence for Shannen. Please also find the following documents enclosed to verify the status of our marriage and ongoing relationship: Check for $680, including filing fee of $595 and biometric fee of $85. Form I-751 Form G-1145 Copy of Permanent Resident Card (front and back) Copy of our marriage certificate Copies of both of our Driver’s licenses/ID (front and back) Copy of apartment rental agreements with joint occupancy (2020-2022) Copies of the tax statements for the previous two years (2020 and 2021) Copies of Shannen's W2 forms Copy of Life Insurance showing that my wife as the beneficiary Copy of Rental insurance showing coverage for both myself and my wife Copy of our Car insurance certificate showing we are both insured Copy of our Health Insurance coverage for me and my wife. Letter from State of Texas Department of Public Safety addressed to petitioner, to show proof of address Letter from Texas Toll addressed to me, to show proof of address Four sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen friends and family, attesting to our relationship and marriage -Name of father -Name of brother -Name of friend -Name of friend Birthday and anniversary cards we have written to each other since my wife moved to the U.S. Screenshots of our social media pages showing our ongoing marriage and relationship. Photographs include: -Our Wedding (August 2019) -Our Honeymoon to Universal Studios, Los Angeles (September 2019) -A vacation to see Shannen’s family in Ireland (August 2021) -Thanksgiving with my family (November 2021) -Our friend’s wedding (May 2022) -My wife Shannen’s birthday in (June 2022). I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and respectfully request your favorable adjudication of this petition." -We recently opened a joint bank account since we never really considered having one, we decided to just go ahead and open it but since it's recent, we don't have much to send away. Would we be best to explain why we hadn't set up a joint account until recently, or even send our own personal statements? -We have printed about 35 photos and written dates, locations and names on the back but I read something that they need to be printed on paper, would that be best? -Utilities are mostly either in his name or my name, as he was paying most of the bills, we hadn't considered that they would need to be in both names, so we hadn't adjusted it. Will this be an issue? We are open to suggestions and tips, please let us know if there is anything else that we should change or consider as we want to make sure we provide as much evidence as we can.
  16. Hello, im in the process of completing the application for removal of conditions. I, the immigrant spouse, submitted the ar11 form online to change my address when i moved at the end of 2021 but never received mail regarding this change- only a confirmation email. Had no idea that my wife, the US citizen had to update her address as well (stupid mistake i know), as she was a secondary joint sponsor, my sister in law was a joint sponsor also but her address has remained the same. Ill be sending the removal of conditions package next month but before that, i thought i should mail in the ar11 for myself (just to be safe) and the i865 form to ensure my wife address is current and up to date in the uscis system, even though its late. Is this a necessary step? Also, in the i865 form it asks "Effective Date of Change of Address". Should i back date it to the date my wife and i moved to our new address, which was 10/12/2021, or should i date it with todays date? Anyone had any issues with their ROC being rejected because of not updating the address for the US citizen? Would be such a shame for have it rejected for a such a simple oversight on my part. thanks for reading O
  17. Hi! I'm way ahead for ROC at the moment, I'm not due until October or so next year but I'd like to get ahead. I've already begun collecting some documents but at this moment would like some samples of what people have sent for their ROC as samples of showing co-mingling in their lives. This is what I have/will have collected for the package so far. -Joint bank accounts ✅ -Joint tax filing ✅ -Joint car insurance ✅ - Health insurance (not sure how to show this, but we're military so my coverage is under his name as sponsor) ✅ - Photos showing time spent together with family/together ✅ - Flight tickets together (Haven't flown a lot but at least 1 so far) ✅ - Joint bills with our names on them (water, electric, gas) ✅ - Possibly join credit cards (I am listed as the 2ndary user of ones he owns- don't have one of my own as of yet)✅ I've seen people mentioned affidavits may be included but is it required? I feel as though the proof above seems sufficient but if we were to need affidavits who would be best to obtain them from? Family members, friends, coworkers? Is there anything else anyone would recommend to add to the list? Not sure if applicable but I'm currently not working, so no paystubs or anything of my own. When/if I do find a job, would any kind of employment proof be necessary? I know it is more of a focus to show that the marriage is continuous and maintained and co-mingling, so I wasn't sure if my employment status mattered here. No children, we do have a pet though - and both our names are on the adoption paperwork. Thanks in advance! Also, do ROCs get their interview waivered if they had one for their conditional GC? I remember by IO telling me it may/may not be waived.
  18. Hey there, My husband (USC) and me (CPR) are planning a 2 week trip to visit family in Germany. From reading previous forum posts, I'm 90% sure that I will be able to travel abroad and come back to the US just fine with only an I-551 passport stamp, but I was hoping someone could give me a piece of mind. 🙄 Backstory: I came here on a K-1 visa; we got married; filed for AOS; received green card. Turns out that our green card had a 10 year validity date, although we were married for less than 2 years at the time we filed for AOS. We sent the green card back to USCIS in June 2021 (filed a free I-90, indicating USCIS error), and since then I don't have a physical green card. We will be filing for ROC this summer and want to go to Germany after we filed. We are planning to travel in September (and be back before October, when my green card would expire - had I received a 2 year green card..). I made an info pass appointment at the local USCIS office back in October 2021, and got an I-551 passport stamp, evidencing permanent residency for 1 year. My understanding is that while my I-90 case is pending, the I-551 stamp in my passport is sufficient to travel internationally and return to the US (as long as I return before October 2022, when the stamp expires and coincidentally also my green card should expire if we get the replacement card in the meantime). Could someone please confirm if this is correct, or if I need any additional documents besides the I-551 stamp + passport to board an airplane and be let back into the US? Do I maybe even need a new I-551 stamp after we filed for ROC, since that happens before we travel? I.e. does filing for ROC change the status of the I-551 passport stamp in any case? Thank you so much!! 😀
  19. Hello, my spouse came in on CR-1, applied for i751 and has interview for ROC scheduled. Also now applied for N400 as soon as they became eligible 90 days before the 3 year mark. Biometrics have been taken, was given the study guide and told to wait for interview, and online status has updated to the same. The question is, is it possible that the upcoming ROC interview can be a combo interview, with oath ceremony scheduled after the conclusion of 3 years of permanent resident status? Field office is Kansas City which as I understand doesn't do same day oath ceremony anyway. Thank you!
  20. Hi everyone! Just trying to have some insight of people who is in the ROC process within Vermont Service Center: I applied jointly and in the 90 days window. - Below is my timeline so far: - VSC received 09/14/21 - NOA1 received 09/23/21 with extension letter of 24 months - Biometric letter 10/07/21 - Biometric date 10/23/21 and same day app update to fingerprints were taken Now I am just waiting to see whether we are going to be approved with or without an interview.
  21. Hello: I filed my ROC I751 with Divorce waiver on 4/2018. My time line: Came to USA as F1: 1/2015 Met Spouse: 3/2015 Got married: 10/2015 Filed I485: 4/2016 Got approved Conditional GC: 9/2016 Got Separated: 6/2017 Spouse filed divorce: 8/2017 Divorce approved (No kids): 10/2017 Filed ROC with Divorce waiver: 4/2018 USCIS Status after filing: June 1, 2018 Fingerprint fee for your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence received. Your case is now properly filed. March 4, 2019 Your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, was transferred to another USCIS office. March 5, 2019 We transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, to another USCIS office that now has jurisdiction over your case. February 4, 2021 Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview My case status is case ready for interview since 02/2021 and almost 4 years since I filed ROC. As per USCIS citizenship application eligibility, I became eligible to apply for N400 (naturalization) since July 2021. I am confused now what to do. Is this timeline or length of case is normal? Should I file N400 for naturalization or wait for ROC adjudication first? I contacted USCIS customer service in October 2021 about my case status and they said I should be interviewed soon. I filed case with sufficient evidence or whatever I had: Marriage certificate, My personal affidavit, Marriage pictures, Joint lease, Joint electricity-water-wifi-cell phone bills, Joint tax return of 2016 and 2017, 2 joint bank accounts, Joint 2 credit cards, 2 joint car loans, 3 affidavits from friends and family, 15-20 pictures, Counseling proofs and counselors letters for attempts to fix marriage, Divorce decree. I did not get any RFE for ROC yet and also USCIS customer service representative during phone call mentioned it was a good signal that I did not get any RFE which means I had necessary supporting papers in submitted file. I am really confused now about my status, my life and everything. I am almost 34 now and feeling like a boat without radar who does not know where his destination is going to be. Any advice or opinion regarding my situation? Thanks!
  22. Hello everyone! Next week I have my I-751 Divorce Waiver interview. Do I need my lawyer to come to the interview? Since this interview is to prove the marriage was bona fide I don't see why my lawyer should be there, he is charging me $900 to come. I used him to file and send the application and answer the RFE. Should I go by myself?
  23. I applied in July 2020, in May 2021 I received a RFE Now I just got an interview notice for Feb 2022 Do I need a lawyer to come with me at the interview? Will the officer behave differently if a lawyer is not present?
  24. Hi- just wondering if anyone has experienced a ROC interview at Norfolk VA field office? And how long was your wait from case ready to be scheduled to the actual interview date? My case changed to ready to be scheduled for interview December 15th, and I’m really hoping to get it done in 2022 🤞
  25. Hi guys, I know it's a bit too early to start the forum for Dec filers 😂 but I figuered we can share our package lists and stuff, even feelings 😘 I've been collecting proof for this since AOS 🙃 I saved anything that's related to our marriage, so I could be less stressed out when it's close to the time for filing. My GC will expire on Feb 28, 2022. The earliest day I can send out my application is Nov 30. I plan on sending it out on Dec 1st. I will share my timeline when I do. Here's the USCIS link if you aren't sure when: https://www.uscis.gov/forms/filing-calculator-for-form-i-751-filing-jointly-with-your-spouse
