Our Story

  1. Hello, I’m the Filipino beneficiary. I am hoping to get my K1 visa issued within this month. I was reading on posts here that it is very important to marry AND file for AOS within 90 days. What I know so far is, when I get to the States: 1. Apply for SSN 2. Marry 3. File AOS 4. Name change on SSN (later on, not sure when) If that’s wrong please correct me. My main question though is this: given this timeframe right now, where my fiance and I are still not together in person in the US, are there any specific steps we can take in advance as of right now? Just based on everyone’s experience, was there any document you wished you have requested or applied for earlier, or is everything a pretty smooth process? Just a little concerned, because it looks like many couples file for AOS past 90 days. It made me wonder whether it was very time-consuming to gather documents or something.
  2. Hey all, I'm about to file our I-129F. At the advice of a lot of people on reddit we followed the S+Y K1 Visa Journey videos. I have met my fiancée 4 times in total, all of which are within the last 2 years. She is from Peru and I'm not sure whether that's considered a high fraud country, though I'm assuming being in LATAM it is. Our packet shakes out to be about 95 pages organized like this: Passport Photos G-1450 G-1145 Cover Letter Table of Contents I-129F Question 54 supplement (1 page) Photocopy of hers and my passport stamps and bio pages Visit 1 --boarding passes or receipts if boarding passes aren't available --hotel receipts --photos (6 with landmarks) Visit 2 --boarding passes or receipts if boarding passes aren't available --hotel receipts --photos (6 total some landmarks, x2 screenshots of social media posts with photos from this meeting one from hers one from mine) Visit 3 --boarding passes or receipts if boarding passes aren't available --hotel receipt --photos (3 short visit) Visit 4 --boarding passes or receipts if boarding passes aren't available --hotel receipts --photos (12 total spanning 6 months including with her family and mine, her wearing engagement ring and a photo of both of our closed passports with boarding passes sticking out, our names and destinations are visible, but no date). Engagement ring receipt Our letters of intent Is this too much? If Peru is considered high fraud I would think that I should front-load evidence, right? Our service center should be California. Thank you so much in advance, this website is an incredible resource.
  3. Hello, Filipino beneficiary here. My medical is halfway done, and after my interview, the CFO comes next. My fiancé and I have a 21 year age gap, and I’m only 20. I hear from others CFO will not like that. I honestly am more scared of it than the interview, where I could be talking to American consuls instead, because what if the CFO officer denies a certificates based on that age gap alone? The reason I’m worried is because of experiences I hear from my fellow Filipinos. The CFO is the bigger battle to me because sometimes its also fellow Filipinos who drag down other Filipinos. For those who know here, is there any tip or added step you guys could advise me? Additional documentation to show? Specific attitude? When to schedule even?
  4. Hello All I thought I would make a Thread for Australian's who have their CASE COMPLETE at NVC and are waiting for an Interview to be scheduled at the US Consulate in Sydney! It might make it easy for us to keep in touch and update each other! I hope this is OK 🐨 We were DQ'd this morning so we will be waiting a while lol
  5. I have my medical on Thursday and I've been reading this forum religiously to prepare for it but haven't been seeing anything recent regarding people's experiences, specifically with MH, other conditions and their letters. I knew the topic of MH would pop up at the medical so I decided to be pro-active and obtain a letter from my GP ahead of time in February. Now, I wasn't sure if a letter would be needed or not because I only have one mention of mental health on my medical summary 6 years ago and it was never an official diagnosis but I did receive a course of therapy. The letter reads; " [retropeach12] and I spoke today to discuss her general overall health. The focus of the consultation was her code of [MH issue] [DATE]. She feels absolutely fantastic right now and has had no issues with mental health over the past 3 years since completing her course of therapy. [retropeach12] had private therapy and NHS counselling between [DATE]. She had a course of Citalopram in [DATE] but discontinued after a month due to the intolerable side effects and a further trial of Mirtazapine in [DATE] but also felt like this was not beneficial. She has never attempted suicide, engaged in self-harming behaviour or had a history of violence towards others. She has never been diagnosed with a mental health condition. After a lengthy course of therapy, that she responded really well to, her symptoms have utterly resolved. We have not consulted her on any aspect of her mood since [DATE] when she finished our course of treatment with our Health and Wellbeing coach, reporting that she was the "happiest she has felt in a very long time" (this was not mental health related). It is of my opinion that her mental health has no bearing on her current health and symptoms and she certainly is no risk to herself or others." My question is, how does this read? I did provide him with the helpful template I've been seeing around this forum. I did also choose to pay for a mental health assessment and I have another A4 report to take in from a clinical psychologist. I'm aware this probably wasn't needed since I don't have a long history or a mental health condition but I wanted to make sure I covered all of my bases. I don't have anything from the previous therapist I saw and when I called up, they were unwilling to compose a letter based on my treatment or current mental health because of the time passed. The only other official diagnosis I have for any "serious" medical condition is Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) which I do currently take medicine for. I do have a report for this but it's VERY brief. It mentions how I was diagnosed and how I'm managing now, plus the medications I'm taking but doesn't specify the role of the medication so I'm not sure if I'll be questioned on that. I want to make sure that I have all my bases covered before Thursday because I don't want to have to go back to my GP since it was like pulling teeth to obtain a letter in the first place. I can't wait for all of this to be over with. Your advice & help is much appreciated.
  6. Hey! I am from Ecuador and we are having a bunch of issues, so I am not sure about how the consulate is working right now. I am gonna have my interview in a few months. Somebody that has beed there recently? Thanks 🩷
  7. Hey! I am super close to my visa appointment and I am trying to figure it out if it's a good idea to add my instagram and facebook info if I don't really use them and neither My fiance (should we just avoid to incluye them? We are not really sharing kinda people) Thanks for your advice 🩷
  8. Hey everyone! I am from Ecuador and my interview for the K1 visa is in a couple months. We are not sure if I should get the vaccines needed before my medical appointment (to make them cheaper but I am not sure if they are valid), at the doctor's office when I get my medical appointment or if it's a better idea to get them at usa (My fiance has medical insurance, but we are not sure if they are covered by it) What do you suggest? (Low price, better results related)
  9. Hello...Welcome! For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Stay patient because this is a long process currently running 12-16 months for your NOA2 or petition approval by USCIS (first stage). Then your petition will be sent to NVC which runs about 6-8 weeks processing (second stage) and finally your interview at the embassy (third stage). Also, do not compare yourself to others....Some will receive NOA-2 faster than others, some will be stuck at NVC for longer and then finally some will receive interviews fairly quickly at embassy. STAY PATIENT! Please create the timeline in your profile. Also note that USCIS goes by "Received date" : Example I-129 F Sent – August 14, 2023 I-129 F Received – August 16, 2023 (NOA-1) I-129 F - Notice Date – August 18, 2023 In this example your NOA-1 should be August 16th. This will help you fill out your timeline properly.
  10. My fiancé and I are putting together the packet to send to the Frankfurt consulate for the K-1 visa interview. As part of it, we are trying to register the document delivery address on US Travel Docs, but following the instructions in P3 and on the US Travel Docs website we are lead to a page where we have to select the visa type and there is no K1 option (New Application/Schedule appointment > Immigrant Visa > Immigrant Visa Delivery Registration). Wondering if others have encountered this and how they resolved it? This is more or less a duplication of this post below but it looks like they never got an answer, wasn't sure if resurrecting that post was the right thing to do or not. Any help is appreciated, thanks!
  11. Hello! Filipino beneficiary here. I just received my CENOMAR by mail today, which I had ordered from PSA online. It’s for my old name at birth. When I compared it to my CENOMAR from PSA I had attended an appointment for (for my current name), I noticed my CENOMAR from online does not have a barcode. I am aware barcodes are important on documents like the appointment letter and the DS-160 confirmation letter. Is it also important to have it on CENOMARs that I should buy another, or not so much? Thank you!
  12. Hi, Filipino beneficiary here. I just wanted to verify with you guys if you had an idea whether this birth certificate of mine counted as “late registered.” It has an annotation on the side because of a late legitimation due to late marriage, but it does not have that “late registered” annotation on the remarks box. If it is late registered, what documents should I bring to the interview? I was only 1 year old at the time of that annotation.
  13. Hello, Filipino beneficiary here looking for others who had experience getting 2 CENOMARs with different names! I have a PSA appointment soon. I need another CENOMAR with my birth name. My parents were not yet married at that time and so my surname was different before. I want to get a CENOMAR on that exact old name, but there seems to be very limited resources on what it was like for those who got them successfully. Did you guys need to provide a specific document? What should I bring to PSA for my appointment to get that CENOMAR with my old name? Is it fairly simple and smooth process like with getting CENOMAR for current name? Please help!
  14. Hello, Filipino beneficiary here on the K1 process. My interview date is on April 23, 2024. There is a frustrating rig on the online website for applying for CENOMAR: psaserbilis.com.ph/Census/CENOMARDetail. When you select “YES” on Document(s) for delivery to an Embassy or Government Agency, you need to fill out your interview date. But it only lets you put the PRESENT date. I cannot at all put April 23, 2024 there. I am so tempted to just enter the present date, although thats incorrect, just to be able to send the CENOMAR to the US Embassy in Manila. Otherwise I can select “NO” and enter OTHERS on purpose of request. Not a lot of resources online about this. This process can get so draining. Please help.
  15. hi everyone, after receiving the pkt 3 from the embassy, I've been trying to schedule an interview and pay the fees. The website always shows "no appointments available" and advises to come back at a later date. For those of you who have already scheduled an interview in Naples: do you have any tips? thank you! chiara
  16. Hello all, Does anyone happen to know or have heard about what the current interview times look like at the embassy in Egypt? We are (hopefully) nearing our NOA2 date (NOA1 May 2021) and would like to try to make a rough guesstimate of the remaining timeline. Any insight is appreciated! Thanks
  17. Hi, Filipino beneficiary here, On DS-160, there is a part that asks for employer phone number. My current employer only does employment verifications through email (no phone no. at all), and my past employer’s supposed phone number for employment verification is just, let’s say, broken. Doesn’t pick up at all. There’s this link that says for questions that do not apply to you, you can answer “Do Not Apply.” https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/forms/ds-160-online-nonimmigrant-visa-application/ds-160-faqs.html In my situation I feel it is fair for me to use the “Does Not Apply” answer, but can anyone provide any similar experience or insight? This is a rather uncommon situation and Im aware employment information is not as important on K1, but just wanted to make sure by asking. Thank you.
  18. Hi, Filipino beneficiary here. On DS-160, under Previous Work/Education/Training Information, it asks for “course of study” for my senior high and junior high experience. I attended grades 11-12 for senior high and grades 7-10 for junior high. What I plan to enter for junior high course of study is “academic,” and for senior high, I am torn between “vocational” and “Accountancy Business and Management (ABM),” the strand I took here in the Philippines as a senior high student. I appreciate any insight. Thanks :).
  19. I am convinced that these forms are made confusing on purpose! Here are the spots that were confusing and/or I got conflicting information about how to fill them out in the I 134 form (I am a U.S. citizen filling out this form for my fiancée K1 beneficiary living in the Philippines). If anyone has had success filling out and submitting this form yourself, please share! Under the sponsor's financial information in part 3, do I list myself as a dependent or not? (I have seen both 1 and 0 listed for people who have no dependents besides themselves -- which is correct?!) Under my fiancée's (the beneficiary) income in part 2, under "relationship to the beneficiary", should I put "beneficiary" for my fiancée? (who I am agreeing to support). This part really makes no sense. It seems I am supposed to list my fiancée as the "beneficiary" of the beneficiary and not "self". The way I understand it is, it should only be "self" if no one else is supporting her... right? Under "anticipated length of stay": I am leaning toward estimating an arrival date and with "no end date" selected. Part 4: I am feeling 90% sure this is all N/A if the sponsor (myself) filled out and signed the I 134 for the Beneficiary to bring to the K1 interview Under "intent to provide specific contributions to the beneficiary" I am marking that "I intend" and then saying that I intend to provide full financial support with no end date -- with specific contributions in part 8, room and board, food, medical etc. Anyone do anything different? I putting N/A in pretty much every single spot that I have no information to fill in -- seems safer than leaving something blank even if its acceptable in some places.
  20. It has been about a month now since NVC sent us an email with a case number and online it says case ready. I have just submitted ds-160 form and I have the confirmation page and all my documents ready, however I still have not yet scheduled the interview because I have not received anything in the post still. Has anyone experienced this? Do I need to wait for this letter? I am reading so many posts about waiting for the letter to come and then so many others saying it is not needed and to go ahead and book the interview anyway as some people never even receive the letter or they can take months to come. Has anyone been to the London embassy k1 interview without having received a letter? I don't know what to do just seems like such a waste of time waiting for this letter to show up, any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  21. Hello, Filipino beneficiary here speaking. We just received the NOA2 and will prepare documents soon. Im wondering how to sign my reaffirmed intent to marry letter. We will have our interview later down the line. My first intent to marry letter was submitted along with the petition about a year ago. It contained my new signature, but the problem is my current IDs (government issued like TIN, PhilHealth) contain my old signature. I will make my second, reaffirmed intent to marry letter soon and am wondering whether I should go back to using my old signature, but then it would not match with the signature on my first letter of intent to marry. Im not aware which the embassy will look more on, having the letter’s signature match across my IDs or having the letter’s signature match on the older letter. Am I better off using my old or new signature here?
  22. It been almost one year since they approved my K1 fiancé. The US embassy stills staying close. I don’t know what to do. Any advices??
  23. Hello everyone, Recently had our interview and were given a 221g to submit a document and the passport. We've since sent the document and the passport to the consulate (and it has been received by them) Any idea on how long they usually take to process? And where we could track this? We don't want to be waiting for months as we've given the passport alongside the document that was requested. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
  24. Hey I am a little confused, I am the beneficiary of the petition. Does my sponsor just need to fill in the form I-134 and I bring it with me to my interview, or do we need to submit it somewhere also on CEAC? Any advice would be appreciated, we are just getting all documents together now and I am now just waiting for my NVC letter. Thank you to anyone who can help.
  25. Does all mail that comes from the USCIS and embassy go to the petitioner? Besides the visa, what other mail will come to the beneficiary? Beneficiary has had a change of address and now uses a P.O box.
