  1. Hello, I filed I-90 form in Jan 2023 to replace my 10 year GC that was lost in the mail by USPS after form I-751 was approved. In the meantime, court approved my legal name change. At this point, I'd like to update my documents (driving license, SSN, bank account) and inform USCIS about the name change, but I am not sure what to do. I could either: Go ahead and update my documents without informing USCIS. I'm afraid this would jeopardize the pending I-90 case. Update my documents and send an unsolicited evidence to USCIS through my account to inform them about the name change and hopefully they'll update the name. Do nothing and wait an indefinite amount of time for my case to get approved Every time I speak with somebody at the phone they are not helpful Thanks for any advice.
  2. For context: my husband's 10-yr GC is expiring in June and the actual GC was also lost (we have a police report). He is eligible for N-400. We are moving in June from CA to FL. He will also need a new DL (the CA DL is also expiring the same day of the GC). We are planning on traveling in July-Aug outside of US. It seems that we cannot just apply for N-400. We are filing the I-90 online so he will be able to get an I-553 stamp. Some questions about the I-90 online application: 1 - Class of admission. Since the GC is lost we cannot verify there. The 2 years GC had CR6 so I think the lost GC had IR6. What should we do? Do we need to put some extra effort to find out for sure or is it good enough to guess IR6? 2 - "Where did you apply for your immigrant visa or adjustment of status?". Is "USCIS California Service center" good enough? 3 - "Where was your immigrant visa or adjustment of status granted?". Where do we find this info? The card arrived attach on a card that we still have that has his A number and card number. It says "USCIS National Customer Service Center". Is it what we need to put here? 4 - There are 2 steps asking for a picture ID: the GC (both sides) and a generic photo ID. Can we use his DL for both and upload the the picture of the DL twice? 5 - Since we are moving, doI we need to be concern about something except update our location after we move? Thank you in advance!

  4. Hi there, I submitted a I-90 after my divorce, to change my name. I-90 was submitted during the pandemiy, Aug 2020. It has been almost 20 months and my case is still pending. Anyone know if this process is normal? Does it take that long to get a replacement green card? Thank you
  5. Okay, so my wife is closing in on her green card expiring in November. We knew that action was needed, so we went ahead renewed the green card, which costs $535.. We've already gone to the biometrics and it should be here in a couple of months. A couple of weeks ago we received a call to action to fill out the I-751, which is to remove conditions... Now I feel like we should of waited to receive this call to action because the I-751 costs $595... What I fear is that we applied to renew her green card, when we should of waited to receive a call to action and remove the conditions... Can someone verify that we made a mistake? And can we rectify the mistake by contacting USCIS with the mix up? Or is the I-90 & I-751 necessary to stay in the country... Anything information would help. Thank you!
  6. Hi there I could not find my green card in July of last year so I filed an I-90 to replace it. I just found it (yay), but I don't know what to do. I am due to travel in July of this year. When I applied the website said my application would take 4 months but now processing time is 7 to 14 months. I cannot take the chance to wait for it to arrive in the mail as it could very well be too late. I quickly chatted with a representative who said that I could withdraw my application and use my GC since I have it. But I am terrified of removing my application and finding out that my card won"t allow me to travel or come back. Has anyone been in this situation? Thank you in advance for any advice on the matter... I don't know how I could have been so careless Stephanie
  7. Good morning everyone! It's time for me to renew my green card and in that 10 years, I have been divorced. I am a Canadian citizen and my maiden name is on my birth certificate. My green card, passport, SSN, and all other things are in my old married name. I am desperate to get that name off of all my stuff. My thought was, when it comes time to renew my greencard, I'd start there. When I went into the online portal, it asked me my name and said that whatever name was on my BC would be the name on my GC. However, I foresee issues as my GC has my married name on it. I am trying to connect with folks how have done this and would like to know their process, what to do. I had planned on changing my name on my GC and then doing passport, SSN, and everything else. I do have my divorce decree. Any help would be appreciated! Word of advice? The marriage was bad enough but the thing I regret the MOST is changing my name. I would never recommend anyone do that... Thank you in advance, PS if this is not in the right spot, please feel free to move it... it's been YEARS since I was on this site!
  8. Hi everyone! Since receiving my ten year green card, I have changed my last name to my husband's officially on my SSN and DL. I want to apply for my N-400 since I am now eligible, but have yet to change my name from my maiden to married on my green card. Do I need to file an I-90 before I can apply for N-400 or can I go straight to N-400 with new last name?? Thank you :)
