Our Story

  1. Hi, my wife and I went through a K1 application before getting married. The K1 went well, but got ultimately delivered as "Canceled Without Prejudice" due to COVID-19 pandemic reasons (or something like that). About 2 years after this **** event and a tough LDR journey, we got married and applied for CR1 (we now live together abroad while it's getting processed). My CR1 is currently at the USCIS stage, but I was wondering if the fact that we applied for a K1 in the past, can it have a negative impact? I don't think so, but we sometimes overthink ahah 😄 Thanks!
  2. I have taken entry in us after 2 years then I should get ir 1 green card instead of cr1. I have now filled up the i90 form. So in how much time will they replace me?
  3. Hi Apologies if this was already answered. Does anyone have any knowledge or insight in regards to a scenario like below: US petitioner working and living in third country with their spouse. The job is for a U.S company contracted with the US govt. Spouse hasn’t done the interview yet but believe it will be close. If the interview comes up and he gets his visa but we decide to still remain in that third country due to work, will it be an issue? Still keeping the US bank accounts, using mothers residence for mail, keeping life insurance policy, US company health insurance, paying taxes, keeping storage unit of the previous US apartment furniture. Visiting every 6 months-9 months. Saving up for a house to purchase in the US.
  4. Hi I am a US citizen and my wife and I have been DQ’d since June 2023. We are awaiting an interview appointment at US Embassy Manila. Does anyone know or hear anything about US Embassy Manila picking up the pace on issuing interview appointments? Is it normal to wait 9+ months for an interview at US Embassy Manila?
  5. Hey guys I have a question. Someone raised concerns about their tax return being filed single on a visa chat forum. I went to Jackson Hewitt every year and told them I'm married to a pakistani and trying to bring him to the States and they filed me as single every year. Is this a problem? I assumed not cause I'm documentarily qualified so the NVC approved my tax returns (tax transcripts I should say)
  6. Another Month has begun and it is time to track all the I-130 fillings for February 2024. Please update the forum on the progress of your petition with USCIS and the NVC. Let us go through this journey together!
  7. Need Advise on Ceac status. My spouse had her interview last week on Tuesday. interview was ok , but the CO didnt find a lot of the documents that were uploaded at NVC stage. at the end wife was given a 221(g) which instructed to upload irrelevant documents like CV, etc all documents were uploaded with in an hour of the interview, later in the day london embassay emailed asking for the documents which were also then sent via email. then on Friday the CEAC status changed to "Refused" , I was under the impression that it will change to Admin Processing? what does refused mean? I saw a similar review for london embassy :https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=31055 that person also indicated that CEAC status change to refused and then Admin processing ...... any insight on this would be welcome.
  8. Hello, I have my cr1 interview next week at us embassy in lima, peru. I submitted to ceac my three police certificates for peru in August 2023. On the certificates, it says there is a validity of three months. I got new police certificates this month in physical form. Do I need to update these to ceac before the interview? At minimum I will bring the new and old police certificates in physical form to interview? When I talked to my lawyer, they said I didn't need to upload the new police certificates to ceac as the ones from august 2023 are less than two years old. I didn't receive any email from embassy asking for updated police forms, but read on visajourney threads before that they can ask for updated police certificates and if they do they would need a copy uploaded to ceac. I'm sure if they ask then it would result in a 221g and delay processing of visa. Am I over thinking and just go to interview with physical copy of new police certificates?
  9. My wife has recently gotten her appointment scheduled, her daughter was planning to stay and live with her biological dad for a while and didn't want to leave her friends yet. Anyway things have changed it seems as the biological father's family is jealous or something, but my question is can I apply now for a K-4 for my step-child? My wife is at the interview stage so she is not a K-3 visa, can I still file for my step-child to come now? Using the I-129F? Any info one the best way to handle it at this stage would be great! Thanks!
  10. Finally got document approval from NVC. I am reviewing info from the embassy. Says an MVC fee will need to be paid. $265 for wife. Don't know for step-child. Does this apply? I know the biometrics fee needs to be paid and don't know how much that is. Wondering when all the fees stop!
  11. Me and my husband applied for the CR1 online but I was wondering if there's a difference between online vs mail application in -for example- processing time? We haven't applied that long ago and I know that the myprogress bar isn't that accurate but it went from 10 months to 3 weeks on Monday and I was wondering if it means anything? I know it's very early for it but I was just curious.
  12. Still in the NVC stage though, but we need to plan ahead. Did anyone get their IV interview letters from Montereal after NVC qualified recently? And how far are they scheduling out? Weeks? Months? My wife is on an open work permit in Canada which is due to expire by the end of 2024. So we wanna know this information beforehand to avoid the need for her to apply for a Canadian PR. Thanks!
  13. Hi, Case- I-R1/CR-1 Spousal Visa For those who have experienced or who have knowledge about the CFO/GFP certificate with sticker. Kindly share me your knowledge. Thank you in advance. I'm about to leave the Philippines to USA for the first time in December. Got my visa and stuff. But one thing came up. I don't know how, I just ended up clicking random website from my phone. You know -- was just searching.. "everything I need to do or know before moving to US from the PH for the first" time something like that. Then I saw the CFO/GFP certificate with sticker. If it wasn't because of me searching random things before I leave. I might have booked the ticket to US without knowing I need this certificate. I'm just wondering. If that happens and I'm at the airport already ready to fly. Would they stop me because I don't have that CFO/GFP certificate? Or is there exceptions? Would they still allow me to leave my country or not? Would my ticket be wasted?
  14. Hi My father who's 58 years old, got married about 3 years ago to a woman in Pakistan. She currently is at NVC stage waiting to get Documantirily Qulified. Once that is done it looks like US embassy is very backlogged in Pakistan and it can be up to 2 years before getting interviewed. Now only issue is my father is 58 and also diabetic and lives alone at his residence, I'm locked in my apartment lease and can't move with him because of that. Looking at his age and health condition would there be a way we can expedite the interview if so where do I reach and how long would it take. Thank you. ( I know 58 doesn't sound that old in US but, coming from a Pakistani family and seeing so many of my relatives barely making to 60s feels scary )
  15. Hi! my interview and medical is soon and I just realised that I didn’t include my middle name(which I have in my passport) in my DS260. should I email the consul or i can wait till interview to tell the officer? thanks so much
  16. Does anyone know how long it is currently taking to get an interview in Ciudad Juarez? I have submitted all of the required documents and paid all of the fees to the NVC and received a Documentarily Qualified email on June 23, 2023. I was just wondering if anyone has any idea how long it would take to get an interview.
  17. Hi there, We accidentally wrongly filed an i90 instead of a i751 and are now filing the i751 6 months late with cover letter explaining the mistake. We had planned to travel outside of the country but now are concerned with the possibility of not having the receipt from i751 when reentering the country in 6 weeks. The i90 receipt does say that the green card extends for 2 years, but this was obviously not the correct form to file and will be rejected eventually. Does anyone know if my wife would be kept from entering the country if we did not yet have the i751 receipt? Thanks so much!
  18. Hi everyone! My husband is set to enter the US next week on his CR-1 visa. Will the government shut down affect him entering the US? I know CBP is essential and USCIS is funded by fees so they will still be working. But will they not properly process his visa entry at the airport due to the government shut down or deny him entry because of the shut down? Did anyone enter on a IR-1/CR-1 during the last shut down and can provide some insight? Thank you!
  19. I would like to get my wife coming from Colombia on a CR1 visa setup in the system to be conditionally approved. As quickly as possible because I plan to make a trip back to Colombia a few months after first entry and I would like to be conditionally approved so that when we return she can finish the process. Would I need to wait for the green card to arrive in the mail or is that information I need to register for Global entry located on her CR1 immigrant visa? Or, is the green card number used to register with global entry. Is that generated as the card is being produce or do they take the previous numbers attached to my wife's visa and file and use that as the green card number?
  20. I had the additional documents with me and I showed them to the officer. The officer was happy about them but they asked me to upload them to CEAS and gave me 221g, I then uploaded the documents to CEAC on the spot. Along with the 221g they gave me a form with instructions, the last instruction is to send the original documents to the embassy via DX delivery. Which I did. My questions are: 1- Did I have to do this (send them to the embassy via DX)? since the officer already looked at the original documents in the interview, but they were only concerned that they weren't uploaded? 2- Also, I sent original documents, and I need them for the future, does the US embassy return those documents along with the passport? 3- And if so how long does the US embassy in London usually take to change the status for such scenario from Refused to Issued? Thanks in advance!
  21. Hello members does anyone received interview letter this months at us embassy Casablanca Morocco 🇲🇦
  22. Just found this thread and it has brought me so much joy. I hate sitting in limbo land being unable to plan my life until I know when I can head back to the States. Before finding this thread I wasn’t sure if it would be a 3 month wait or an 8month wait. EB1 I-140 approved end of June, all fees paid, documents and DS-260 submitted around August 22. Not sure how long DQing takes or if being EB1 affects anything, but I’m hoping that I could get an interview scheduled early next year at the London embassy. Not sure if anyone in a similar boat has some insight… Thank you for this thread!
  23. So I would like to know how I can tell which processing center the case went to . I found online that the three letters before your receipt number usually indicate the office or service center where your case is being processed. I got IOE which stands for USCIS Electronic Immigration System (ELIS) . How can I check their processing time since I couldn't find it online ? I found 5 different processing centers but none of them mentions the one I got . I would really appreciate your help with this .
  24. We had our Interview at the Bogota Embassy today. My wife's visa status was given "Refusal" and was given the 221g Yellow paper stating that they need a certified raised seal divorce decree. I wasn't thinking and had thought I had a copy of the raised seal and didn't think to check if it was the real one, because I had so much on my plate. They kept my wife's passport. Now, I think I am just overthinking this, but I think it is a good thing that they kept it. I am thinking that once they get that final document that they will immediately issue her the CR1 Visa. My big issue is that I am in Colombia and the divorce decree is in the United States. I don't want to have to fly to Nevada to get it, but if I have to, I just might to get the ball rolling. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
  25. We already got DQ’d and are waiting for our interview letter. I now remembered my wife and I had previously leased an apartment in Turkey with a residence permit for tourism purpose, and stayed there for 5 months. I’m not sure if i should have added this address for the apartment in the previous addresses section of the DS-260 form. Does this 5 month stay at this apartment count as something I should add? We stayed in Turkey with a residence permit that was applied under tourism. I made a letter for now to have my wife bring it to her interview to show the CO in case we need to update it.
